Slip-sliding into chaos?

It would not take much for that to happen.

We have to make sure that the virus does not overwhelm rural hospitals and that the food supply chain remains open and functioning. It may require some rationing?

Also, people will need jobs and money to survive. Half of our country has no savings beyond $400 dollars, it has been reported.

This could be a time that we need good, organized government and good leaders.

In my opinion, this is a critical time for our nation.

How many people seriously believe we will not have an election in November and why?

Under what circumstances would we not be able to have an election?

If corporations are "people"...?

Why do they get more than the $1200 that "people" get in the emergency funding?

(I saw this question on FB)

The Greatest Cover-Up

There will be a reckoning. Those politicians, like Mitch McConnell, Mario Rubio, Mitt Romney, and the many others that have supported this cover-up, will stand in judgement. They have stood by silently with their support as Donald Trump has told one lie after another about his role in this epidemic crisis.

First, it was just a "Democratic hoax", like the Russia investigation and like the Ukraine scandal. By the way, his call was not "perfect". It was a criminal and traitorous act.

Then, there were the people on the cruise ship. He did not want them in the country. He liked the "numbers just where they are", he said. He did not want the number of people with the virus to go up.

Then, there were 15 people with the virus. He told America that the number would soon be zero.

He lied about why he cut the program that monitored pandemics around the world. He called it "obsolete". He thought it was a good way to save money. And all the Republican leaders stood behind him.

He was warned by Intelligence of the dangers of the epidemic and he dragged his feet. He refused to activate the Defense Protection Act that could have required immediate production of equipment to handle the epidemic.

He failed to initiate tests for the virus. He chose to make it a political issue. In the most dire time for our country, he chose to divide us into groups, those that support his re-election and those that do not. It is the most shameful and disgraceful action by a President in our country's history.

Now, he wants to cover it up. He wants America to believe that he was on top of this problem from the very beginning. He wants to repeat over and over what a great job he is doing. He told America that he did not "accept any responsibility at all".

He refuses to accept the advice of doctors and scientists or experts in the field. He believes he knows more than all of them. He alone, will decide when America is safe from this pandemic. And the Republican leaders still remain silent.

The Watergate cover-up was a trivial matter compared to what is going on with the Trump White House. The lies continue with each passing day. Other than outright rebellion, the only solution seems to be the November election. There will be a reckoning.

The Panic of the Elites

It wasn't the coronavirus that panicked them so much. It was the uncontrollable drop in the stock market. They tried every trick in the book and nothing worked. People had zero faith in the markets.

The Fed put one and half trillion dollars into the market and it had an impact for about an hour. Then it disappeared. They promised unlimited resources to protect it.

As the epidemic continued to explode and fears mounted, they decided that it was more important to get back to work and save the market than to save the lives of Americans. They said it would be elder Americans, mostly, that would die, but data suggest that many victims of the scourge are between 18-40 years of age.

Then they rushed thru a two trillion dollar emergency bill to save the economy, to save Wall Street. They compromised and gave hundreds of billions of dollars to help workers with unemployment and other assistance. They gave assistance to hospitals and community health centers.

But the epidemic continued at its own pace. It didn't give a whit about the stock market or the panic of the wealthy. It attacked capitalism and capitalism had no response. They even thought of shutting down the stock market to prevent further freefall.

Just this morning, the new unemployment figures came out. More than 3 million jobs were lost in the last couple of weeks. But the market went up for a couple of days, with the insertion of trillions of dollars more into our economy. Can this type of "socialism" save capitalism?

There is fear on Main Street but there is panic on Wall Street.

During such a time of crisis, why did Trump and Mnuchin insist on a $450 billion special fund?

To use for their corporate friends?

Could they not set aside their greed in this one instance for the benefit of the people? No, evidently not.

They blackmailed the rest of the US Senate into giving them the money or they would not agree to anything else.

As we now know, when Donald Trump gets his hand on a dollar, it is damn near impossible to pry it loose. So they got their $450 billion dollars to do with what they wish. There is no oversight. There is no enforcement. It's a special fund for Trump, Mnuchin, and their cronies.

But there is an emergency. People are dying. The Senate had no choice.

In 3 or 4 months, all the money will be gone and more will be needed.

What strings will then be attached to the $450 billion dollars that Trump and Mnuchin are sitting on?

A message from Elizabeth Warren:

"We face a public health crisis that threatens to bring another Great Depression. Families, hospitals, & small businesses need immediate aid. This is not the bill I wanted, but its immediate investments are vital. They are also insufficient. We will need to do more – and soon. But the price of action during a health crisis shouldn’t be a $450 billion Trump Administration fund that could be used to boost favored corporations. I fought for more oversight & restrictions on this fund. We got some limits, but they are short of what’s needed.

I won’t block vital aid but tomorrow we get back up and continue the fight. And I make you this promise: I will spend every waking moment watching the Trump Administration and do everything I can to hold it accountable for how it spends this $450 billion taxpayer fund."
