The Greatest Cover-Up

There will be a reckoning. Those politicians, like Mitch McConnell, Mario Rubio, Mitt Romney, and the many others that have supported this cover-up, will stand in judgement. They have stood by silently with their support as Donald Trump has told one lie after another about his role in this epidemic crisis.

First, it was just a "Democratic hoax", like the Russia investigation and like the Ukraine scandal. By the way, his call was not "perfect". It was a criminal and traitorous act.

Then, there were the people on the cruise ship. He did not want them in the country. He liked the "numbers just where they are", he said. He did not want the number of people with the virus to go up.

Then, there were 15 people with the virus. He told America that the number would soon be zero.

He lied about why he cut the program that monitored pandemics around the world. He called it "obsolete". He thought it was a good way to save money. And all the Republican leaders stood behind him.

He was warned by Intelligence of the dangers of the epidemic and he dragged his feet. He refused to activate the Defense Protection Act that could have required immediate production of equipment to handle the epidemic.

He failed to initiate tests for the virus. He chose to make it a political issue. In the most dire time for our country, he chose to divide us into groups, those that support his re-election and those that do not. It is the most shameful and disgraceful action by a President in our country's history.

Now, he wants to cover it up. He wants America to believe that he was on top of this problem from the very beginning. He wants to repeat over and over what a great job he is doing. He told America that he did not "accept any responsibility at all".

He refuses to accept the advice of doctors and scientists or experts in the field. He believes he knows more than all of them. He alone, will decide when America is safe from this pandemic. And the Republican leaders still remain silent.

The Watergate cover-up was a trivial matter compared to what is going on with the Trump White House. The lies continue with each passing day. Other than outright rebellion, the only solution seems to be the November election. There will be a reckoning.

Rest assured, they ARE going to try. And they will make it seem to be the only obvious and safe choice. The democrats will be HARMING America if we get to have our election. And a sizeable portion of the populace will accept it as the smart choice.

THAT is how they roll.

The question is, just how far are we willing to go to stop them?

is intentional to purge the poor (either through illness or discourage from voting) who would be more inclined to support Democrats. As usual, the wealthy are more likely to survive as they can afford medical care or the bucks to avoid getting the virus (ie hang out at the cottage or an island).

I worry about the stimulus being used by Trump to help himself politically in battleground states.

People who don't know any better (and I'm not talking about fox 'news' viewers either) see his daily 'briefings' and get the impression that tRump is looking presidential. One example - my uncle, who in September hated tRump with a passion, has recently said "I think he's doing a pretty good job".

We, the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, and all Congressional candidates need to do a hell of a lot better job of exposing all of tRump's lies throughout this disaster and not make it look like we're taking advantage of a bad situation. If approached in the wrong way this could bite us in the ass.

This is the hard truth that I believe most DU'ers don't want to face.

Dubya gave everyone a little check which had to be considered income and taxed a year later and people thought they'd actually gotten some help when in reality it was only an advance.

Trump's handlers have put his ugly mug on TV every single night when they learned that he was losing support for his handling of the virus and suddenly his poll numbers have surged.

The media has all but forgotten about the name "Biden" for now.

I'm afraid Democrats are not understanding how easily a massive amount of Americans can be manipulated.

Unfortunately, I do not see any of that. His racist, hate-filled, equally treasonous followers just will not let go of their evil bonds to this despicable blight on humanity.
After everything that has gone on these last few years he still retains a possibility of reelection. That speaks worse for our citizens than it does for him.
I will do everything I can do ensure he is defeated in November, but I fear that his reckoning may only come in future history books.

I am tired of fighting against stupidity and greed. Friends and colleagues are sick. Sarah and Fred are sick. Tim is dead. The old men and women are all at risk. It is the young who say, 'Yes' or 'No" in the ER now as we expedite our incompletely trained young medical students to face the enemy, ill-prepared now, as we are short of and losing the experienced medical professionals who have cared for us under preventable circumstance. It is scary, and we have no protective masks, we have no ventilators. The little children are left at home as their moms and dads courageously go to the front lines unprotected to save who they can, not knowing if they will contract the virus and leave their children orphan. Americans, some of them, have traveled away from the epicenters only to spread potential death to others, thinking this pandemic is but a politically motivated hoax. No one knows where or when this will end. I want to have time to look for and share my life with friends and family. I want to reach out to see how many of them are well. I fear I may find more among the sick or dead. Hear me, my friends! I am tired. I know you are tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands we must fight on and expose stupidity and greed flowing like puss from the inhuman mouths of the market makers, government inside traders, the "right to lifers"....up until it hits their pocket book, the peddlers of the prosperity gospel, the propagandists out for profit, the stable genus who seemingly can't understand a relevant testing amount is not an absolute number but a number as a percentage of a country's total population. We must ban together, and we must excise from power those who would place their own financial benefit over that of their fellow man. The true character of America has been put in play, one cannot sit on the fence for this one, your are either an American how stands for LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for ALL or you are a traitor. I know what side I am on.

He always weasels out of it, one way or another. He's tied things up in court his entire life. He lies from both sides of his mouth, the upper lip, the lower lip, and that big stupid hole in the middle, and many people believe him. They're not the most intelligent people, to be sure, but they still vote and they vote for him! It makes absolutely no sense at all, but it happens. How are we going to change that? Can we change that? Nothing Democrats have tried so far has worked. He still has that immovable "base" of morons, and they can't be reached. We've tried.

Sat Mar 28, 2020, 12:59 PM

And revisionist history will try to exonerate and excuse him.

"In the year 2020 the world was hit by a pandemic. Governments responded, some quickly and comprehensively, others slowly and ineffectively.
The US president at the time was a businessman who'd somehow been elected to office. He'd dismantled provisions and protocol put in place for such an event. He publicly minimised the virus early on, when he should have been taking measures to protect and treat the US population. He pushed for business's to reopen as medical experts and most state governor's were cautioning, restricting social interactions and looking out for the welfare of those in their state. The president seemed to be concerned only with the economy and his bid for reelection later that year. He failed miserably as a leader, and was defeated by numbers never before seen. (It is interesting to note that many more of his constituents died during the pandemic. They were mostly older, and did not heed recommendations for social distancing and isolation, and therefore more prone to succumb to the illness. Some hypothesized that if he had not been responsible for the deaths of many of his supporters he would have been elected to a second term, however this was proved to be false, based on the numbers and simple math)."

Gee that was fun and cathartic to write!

41. A small correction
Sat Mar 28, 2020, 02:19 PM
Mar 2020

When quoting, instead of "a Democratic hoax", I'm pretty sure I've only seen Republicans write "a Democrat hoax". "Democratic" is correct grammar, but Republicans haven't been able to grammar correctly for a number of years, so the correct way to quote the incorrect grammar in print is "a Democrat(sic) hoax". The '(sic)' tells the reader that it's the person you're quoting making the mistake and not you.

This is all on top of the actual reality that people raising the alarm about covid-19 aren't perpetuating a hoax of any kind, but rather has the intelligence to listen to the doctors and scientists who have been raising alarm bells since late 2019.

We have one of the two major political parties doing everything it can to totally abolish the constitution, who seem to want if not a monarchy a authoritarian/theocratic/oligarchic government. The repuglican party is actively, and quite out in the open mind you ... no shame in their game .... destroying everything we as a nation stand for. From rigging/stealing elections to actively seeking foreign intrusion in those elections. From giving the rich and powerful more riches and power to doing everything they can to keep the rest of us in poverty, ignorant and powerless. The corruption of that "party" is right in our face and we........ we do nothing.

Yes our chump in chief is a total halfwit. Yes he's a monster in human form. Yes.......... he's a useful tool for countries that mean us no good. And yes he has no morals, empathy or shame. BUT, all of that would be beside the point if it wasn't for his enablers and sycophants in the senate and thankfully only a few in the house.
