bonzo925's Journaldoes it seem that all talks on inequities always boil down to
some type of injustice being perpetrated? I mean if someone isn't given something they should be getting, steps should be taken to change that, but it seems that people these days are looking at various inequities and using it as prima-facie evidence of some type of hate being done to someone. I mean do we want everyone, for instance, to get a perfect SAT score? Obviously not, because the demand for perfect SAT scorers would atrophy. I also see a fundamental dishonesty in the computation of these statistics because people don't bother to control for various things. More often than not, once you control for them, the inequities go away.
This is all not to say that inequality is a good thing because it certainly isn't (latin america being an example). But to look at inequality at face value and not look at the fine print is a misdiagnosis of things going on.
Bernie's plan to make college free
anyone here agree with it in theory but have caveats? My view is this - college should be free but it also should only be free for people who are majoring in either STEM or accounting and have an SAT score (say 2000/2400) to actually have the ability to do the work. My view is that if college was free for everyone, then you have the problem of free-ridership.
is MGTOW the answer to ending rape?
I'm starting to think it's just what it might be. For those that don't know, MGTOW (pronounced mig tao) is an acronym for Men Going There Own Way. It basically means they want to avoid relationships, at least until there a lot older and don't have to worry about divorce and loss of assets. By the time men would start relationships and having children, they would probably be of an age where rape is almost unheard of.
