GAJMac's JournalTough Guy
So I guess my idea of a "tough guy" is out of date. I mean, we ALL know TFG is really tough, right? I guess the reason Chuck Norris no longer has a TV show is that he didn't get the memo that "tough guys" whine, piss and moan.
Chuck, you've gotta get it together. You could still be making bank if you'd just learn to whine "It's not FAIR" and stomp your foot.
No need to take someone down in a fair fight and send them to jail, just find a shady lawyer and sue them. No need to have the truth on your side, just convince a sympathetic media that "You've been wronged - AGAIN".
C'mon Chuck, take some notes (and please don't kick my ass...)
Orange bully's lack of class
On the subject of Biden's stutter, I would simply say that President Biden is "Buh buh buh BAD TO THE BONE"!
Just a quick shout-out
To my lovely, kind, smart wife of 45 years as of TOMORROW! She's an occasional lurker here on DU, but I'll tell her I made a post in her honor.
For all of the wonderful traits she possesses, I'm just grateful that she has low standards when it comes to spouses.
Someone sent me a heart!
Thank You, my anonymous Friend! It was not at all expected, but greatly appreciated.
Social Burden
OK, I'm going to propose something here, and I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts.
We have a large number of huge, very successful companies that place a large "social burden" on the citizens of this country. I'm proposing a tax for those who use taxpayer money to offset legitimate operating costs. We could call this a "social burden tax".
I'm referring to the Walmarts, the employees of which have to get food stamps to survive, the Tricon Residentials who buy huge amounts of single family homes then rent them for exorbitant, unaffordable rates, the private equity firms which are buying and closing hospitals and medical practices.
All of these mentioned have something in common. They are making themselves filthy rich at the expense of the taxpayers.
Who pays for food assistance, housing subsidies, and increased medical costs due to monopolistic practices? We do.
Since a "wealth tax" is anathema to one of the two political parties controlling this country, we could sell it as "reducing public assistance program expenditures". We know this party detests spending government money to help anyone less fortunate, but reducing assistance programs? Sign them up!
Thoughts?
Genuine question here...
For fellow DUers who have more legal knowledge than I (probably most of you). Regarding Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law: If Deathsantis were shot by someone at one of his public events in Florida, could the shooter use the "Stand Your Ground" defense?
I mean, the shooter could at least somewhat claim that he/she felt "threatened" by Deathsantis's hate rhetoric, and his actions while in office. The shooter could also claim that Deathsantis was chipping away at his/her "God-given rights", and threatening her/his very existence.
I'm not trying to stir anyone up, or cause someone to try this, but I really am curious about the limits of that particular law.
Hey Republi"can'ts"
Stop saying "Let the voters decide". Everyone really knows you mean Let the voters decide, as long as the voters aren't Gen Z, minority, lower income, trans, female, or any other group you are currently trying to disenfranchise.
