(80 posts)as there were socialist forces. The economic despair caused by the Great Depression fostered some pretty extremist movements on both sides of the political spectrum. The reason why FDR was such a great President is that he was able to successfully navigate a narrow path and not fall prey to either one.
But getting back to your comment about the Dems' House victory of 2018...

I think a Sanders nomination could very well prove disastrous. Not only would Fuhrer Drumpf likely beat him but Dems would probably fail to win back the Senate and could conceivably lose the House. Even if Bernie were to beat Trump it would likely be a squeaker and I don't want a nail-biter when it comes to ousting that rotten SOB in the White House. Plus having Bernie as President with a Senate AND House controlled by the GOP would just be more political paralysis in DC.
America has been on auto-pilot for 3 years and can't go much longer without running outta fuel or slamming into a mountain.
