(9,365 posts)You know, and I know, and everyone who knows anything... the Never Hillary crowd didn't just evaporate. The fact that there was a big chunk of Bernie's supporters who were never going to vote for the Democratic nominee doesn't give me any solace. In fact, this is what I base my fears on. There is a precedent.
And here is how you defeated your own point: First you say there was a portion of voters who never meant to vote for a Democrat (Hillary), and then you call them "confused". No, they can be either one (intending to vote against a Democrat) or the other (unsure of whether they will vote for a Democrat). Bernie brings not a single "disaffected" voter to the Democratic side. However, if there are Bernie voters, as you hypothesize, are disaffected in 2020, Bernie running as a third party candidate would peel these voters away from Trump.
And those you call "confused"? After the '16 experience, I don't think there are many confused Democrats left. But that's a whole different thread.
