In reply to the discussion: Did anyone see the Donnie Deutsch-Lawrence O'Donnell dust up? [View all]Pachamama
(16,887 posts)Donnie is a branding and ad guy - he has to of course look at stats, but he is someone who also made his success on instincts. His opinion is purely instinctual and also being someone who on the inside of "knowing" Trump has value in his opinion. But it is just that - an opinion. He could be right. But its not based on anything other than opinion and "gut".
Lawrence is someone who is an intellectual and a commentator basing things on facts. He of course has his own "opinions" but he wants to go based on fact. I think that Lawrence O'Donnell was offended that Donnie Deutsch just dismissed 10 highly qualified candidates based on "opinion" and no fact.
I think that Donnie Deutsch could preface his statements by having been more respectful about the candidates and then stated that his concerns based on knowing Trump are that they can't beat him. Then Lawrence O'Donnell could have stated in a less dismissive way something along the lines that while he knows Donnie knows the "Donald" and is a successful branding expert, that this is strictly opinion and the candidates can take on Donald Trump.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
