(31,234 posts)older members of the black community. Look, I understand why some of the black endorsements have come about for BS. Many of his endorsements are from AA's who no longer hold public office, and have been out of the spotlight for some time. BS' campaign gives them an opportunity to reintroduce themselves, and maybe even land a job with a campaign that has struggled to connect with minority voters. I ain't mad at 'em for being opportunistic. Nina Turner lost her own election, and traveling the country for a campaign that's raking in millions from small donors, is a chance to raise her own profile. I get it.
What I am mad at, is them keeping quiet when someone like John Lewis comes under attack from BS' more exuberant "supporters". Silence is consent AFAIC. I saw some of the most vicious anti-black rhetoric I've seen in a long time, and this was reportedly from supporters of BS. Names like "race hustler" were thrown around with apparent disregard of John Lewis' biography.
