23. Living in Miami, I thought my cats would be good pest control for the inevitable palmetto bugs.

I put a cat in front of a palmetto bug, crawling across the floor, and the cat was a textbook study in ignoring it. I tried several variations of this, thinking that the cat would see in the roach something to chase and play with and kill. But it was like, the roach was in some alternate dimension that the cat could not perceive.
