Mormonism is no different than any other religion. People will tie themselves into mental knots trying to make all the pieces fit (see creationists for all the examples if this you'd ever need - or just watch that cartoon again!)...but try as they might, there is no way for them to actually square the circle.

If you seek the spiritual, going to a communal church is not the way to find it...
If seek community, holding exclusionary beliefs and special conditions for the "in-group" is not the way to do it...

I see no personal or social benefit to the modern religions. At one time in our past they were necessary to hold together populations and allow for semi-orderly growth of civilization, but from the time of the Enlightenment on, the globe would be better served with a total loss of tribal religions.
