(5,480 posts)If they hear something that they think might prejudice the juror they speak with their lawyer and sometimes an objection gets raised, or the lawyer delves more deeply into the troubling portion.
In one (bizarre) case I was in the jury pool for, the defendant decided he was going to ask questions of the members of the pool. After has asked me about my age and what I did for a living, the judge intervened and made him realize that acting as his own lawyer might not be the best choice he ever made.
D: What do you do for a living?
Me: Photographer
D: What kind? Portrait, landscape,...
Judge cuts him off: How does anything in this line of questioning in any way pertain to your case? (It started as some sort of a traffic stop, and somehow escalated, and he had demanded a jury trial.)
Jury pool excused for a conference. When we returned the guy let his court-appointed attorney ask the questions.
