There is a never ending class war being waged against American workers. TPP is the latest weapon in this war. It is a nuclear weapon, on the launch pad, engines fired up, counting down, ready to destroy the American worker's last bit of dignity and economic opportunity.
We all know the game at this point. Whether it's off-shore oil drilling, privatizing our education system, public health care, protecting Wall Street or sending millions of jobs to Asia, in spite of the rhetoric to the contrary, Obama manages to get things done for corporate America. The well being of our corporate citizen comes first. It's the one thing both Congress and the White House agree on.
The consequential damage by our corporate/government partnership over the last several decades has accumulated and it is staggering. Just like global warming, the science and the data behind our bad behavior highlight the duplicity between rhetoric and policy. The rich have prospered at the expense of the middle class and below. Hard working Americans are being steadily pushed into poverty while the wealth of a ruling minority is growing at exponential rates.
NAFTA and Citizens United were bad. Things are about to get worse. Much worse. As if daily backstabbing from Washington wasn't enough, here comes the fast tracked TPP, Obama's grand plan to ship millions of additional jobs to India, China, Vietnam, Peru, Australia, Malaysia, Chile and more.
At face value, the economic devastation to families by another trade deal would be bad enough. But Washington and its corporate benefactors are getting bolder. Not satisfied with just our jobs, corporations want our civil liberties and basic human rights.
TPP is more than a trade deal making it easier for corporations to outsource to slave labor in Asia. It provides extrajudicial powers to corporations who want to evade the law.
TPP further restricts our ability to petition our own government for justice and equality. Medicines, health care, banking regulations, internet neutrality, environmental protections, worker wages, protections under the Bill of Rights all become subject to the laws of TPP. The TPP agreement provisions corporate tribunals to adjudicate what is fair for American workers and their families.
What people don't seem to understand is that the job loses are not just limited to "red state" manufacturing sectors. Architecture, engineering, science, medicine, food processing, basic research, insurance, legal, design, aerospace - are all jobs being off-shored at record levels to India, China, Mexico and South America. TPP will accelerate the loss of these higher wage jobs.
TPP is not just Obama's NAFTA++, fast tracked, written and negotiated in secret by corporate lobbyists. It will become Democratic Party legacy should this rotten agreement become law. Future generations will never forgive us.
TPP proves, once and for all, the brutal truth. Both political parties put the financial interests of a few undeservedly rich oligarchs above the health and integrity of 330 million people.
We lost the NAFTA war without a fight. Stand up and defend yourself and don't let Obama steamroll you with rhetoric about TPP's ponies and rainbows. TPP has been written by corporations, for corporations. It is a shitty deal for REAL people.
