(1,241 posts)The oil patch is crazy with jobs. That is North Dakota and eastern Montana. I mean thousands of jobs. Can you drive a truck? They are paying 80-100 thousand a year to drive a stupid truck. McDonalds pays 18 bucks an hour and cannot get help. Places to live are extremely hard to find BUT there are many, many people doing it and are making huge once in a lifetime money. It's the oil patch. The wild west atmosphere. Right now it's really cold in North Dakota so it isn't easy. I don't know how old you are but if I were a younger man or woman looking for an adventure of a life, I would head for the patch. And you are welcome to flop at my place until the weather gets a little better. I live about 300 miles from the oil fields. You do need a car. Combined time I probably have 2 years living in a car. I know what you have to do to survive. If you have your health things aren't as bad as you think.
