Don Samuels Raises More Than $350,000 in Six Weeks in His Rematch Against Rep. Ilhan Omar [View all]

This is a hopeful sign. I hope he wins. It looks like people are fed-up with Omar's behavior/actions that Don Samuels characterizes as being "performative" and "self-serving".

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 4, 2024–Former Minneapolis City Council Member Don Samuels announced today that his U.S. congressional campaign against Rep. Ilhan Omar has raised an impressive $355,397 in just six weeks with $57,481 in operating expenses, leaving $346,800 cash-on-hand as of December 31, 2023. These numbers signal a robust financial position, setting the stage for the campaign to surpass its 2022 fundraising record.

In 2022, Samuels came within 2.1% of defeating Omar in what became one of the most-watched congressional races in the country. Today, Samuels feels confident that his campaign will be triumphant with more time, resources, and better name recognition.

“With our strong fundraising efforts, I feel confident that we can take on Rep. Ilhan Omar and win in August. The Fifth Congressional District is ready for new leadership focused on supporting working families with good jobs and strong unions, lowering healthcare and housing costs, and providing public safety for all.”

In contrast, Omar raised $1,633,131 due to incumbency and a longer fundraising window, but her campaign spent more than $800,000 in the fourth quarter. The financial dynamics highlight the competitiveness of the 2024 election, with the Samuels campaign positioned as a formidable contender.
