My sympathies had long sided with the Palestinians. I still do to some extent, and I still support a two-state solution. But Arafats all-or-nothing approach and constant moving of the goalposts showed that he wasnt serious about an end to the conflict. And again, another chance for peace fell through.
The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Exactly, this is further proof these Palestinian leaders never had any intention of taking yes for an answer.

I think the difference is that Clinton seemed to mean "smart" in a cunning, devious way

Could be. But it's hard to finish an agreement when a citizen so opposed to the deal assasinates the leader.
