(783 posts)72. When I was in HS back in '87
There was this girl who had just broken up with her boyfriend. We all used to "cruise the strip" back in the day, and when she saw him she went in to the nearby Burger King and called the police screaming that he had a gun and was threatening to kill her.
Within minutes the cops had him surrounded in the lot with guns drawn and face in the pavement.
I have zero doubt in my mind that if this would have happened today that he would be dead.
If I recall, she didn't even receive any sort if official reprimand other than a slap on the wrist. It could have turned out to be a nightmare.
