(8,807 posts)She closed everything very early. We have had drive up testing sights for a while, but, as of yesterday, you no longer need a drs recommendation to be tested. Our numbers are not too bad - considering other states. We have 363 reported cases and 6 deaths. Up until a few days ago, my county - Torrance - had no reported cases. Now, we have 3. We have one reported case in the closest town to me - a town of around 800 people where everyone knows everyone and who has the virus. But - the mayor of our town is so on this. He is on Facebook and Zoom almost every evening informing people about the numbers & what our town is doing. Plus he takes questions live.
Everyone loves him. He is a young Hispanic Dem . The town is probably half Dem and half Republican. His mom fosters/ adopted quite a few young children and at events he always has a gang of littles with him that he refers to as his brothers and sisters. Only 3 to 5 people allowed in our grocery store, dollar store and gas station. We have a hand washing station outside our grocery store and our police, town officials and mayor all wear masks. He told us the other day dont be scared if a police officer wearing a mask stops you. I moved to NM in my 20s from NJ and have been in love with this state since then. NM is so blue.
