People retire there because it's endless summer with an occasional chilly day in winter, year round outdoor activities, and lots of people their own age from all over the country. My dad thought it was a real slice of heaven.

My mother, who didn't get to retire from housework and cooking 3 meals a day, said she enjoyed seeing high rise condos go up because they'd make Florida sink faster.

With such a huge elderly population, they're going to be in real trouble there. Care will have to be rationed to people with a good chance of surviving a week on a vent. That sounds harsh, but it's a kindness. If my parents were still alive, I'd want that decision for them. Now that I've had my three score and ten, I'd want it for me.
