(14,492 posts)I developed clinical depression in my late 50s and struggle with it every day, now at 72. Along with some herbs and supplements I take, I find the best relief in helping others in any way I can, like fixing stuff. Perhaps you can channel some of your Shotokan energy into that.
Meditation techniques I developed early in my alcohol recovery program carried me through many trials, as I had to travel all over the US for several years for a living as a service engineer. Now retired, I still treasure those methods. They help me to reset my ego and keep things in perspective.
Being the extremely curious sort, I also had to take a path of discovery to learn more about myself and the human race in general. Learning some things about personality types and evolution has helped me learn acceptance, one of the keys to true inner peace and happiness.
I hope you find your path to peace and joy. It must be your path........
