My daughter & special HS session @ Stanford Law - update! [View all]

Last edited Tue Apr 30, 2019, 03:23 PM - Edit history (1)

My daughter is a real firecracker... she has known since she was in middle school that she wants to run for Senate and possibly even President.

She made the leap into Charter school (home school) because the local HS was holding her back and now she is graduating a year early! She has already made the jump to taking classes at the local community college.

Since she took her PSAT - we've been on the radar for colleges sending stuff. This is totally different!

She received a special invitation to represent her school (Visions in Education Charter has over 2000 students from Sacramento area) at the Envision/Stanford Law in collaboration with George Mason University and Intensive Law & Trial - It's a 10 day program, taught by actual Stanford Law professors and will culminate in a mock trial in the SF Superior Court!

The cost is off-putting at $4000... but we are applying for a partial scholarship and she has set up a gofundme as well. (I told her part of campaigning is raising money...so get used to it!)
here's the link if anyone feels flush gf.me/u/sdduzx The link works if you cut/paste or just search for Laney Terrell

I'm so proud, hoping this small town girl can take on the world!

UPDATE 4/30 - Well it hit the local news! http://southtahoenow.com/story/04/29/2019/south-lake-tahoe-teen-headed-intensive-law-and-trial-program-stanford

We should know the scholarship outcome in the next 2 weeks.

And yes, I know it is a "for profit" program, but we feel it is an amazing opportunity for her to step into some BIG shoes. Being from a rural area, this is letting her get the feel of a big university and competitive setting. She will also get 2 units of credit which is nothing to sniff at
I actually start my new job this week!!
