Neither Madame Speaker nor any of the House's Democratic committee chairmen have yet asked for [View all]

any advice from me, but just in case they get around to it, I've given some thought to what I may say.

I would urge them to abandon any residual hope that Trump is EVER going to behave like anything but a spoiled-rotten rich kid who feels absolutely entitled to get his way about EVERYTHING. His affinity for the world's ruthless dictators is fueled by his transparent envy of their total power over the lives of their "subjects". He expects--- yes, he does---to be worshipped and feared as they are.

So---forget about any investigative approach that does not amount to FORCING the whiny, nasty, kicking-and-screaming Donny to do what integrity and common decency---not to mention the law---would cause anyone else to do. For example, stop "requesting" documents or testimony. LEAD with subpoenas and the seek arrests and contempt penalties the very hour when the compliance deadline expires.

And, in response to across the board defiance and disrespect for Congressional authority, let's review all of the things the House does to assist the White House---and withhold the assistance WHENEVER doing so will not endanger or harm ordinary citizens. Obviously, appropriations would seem to offer several opportunities to---figuratively speaking---smack Trump upside the head.

A simple rule to follow might be "If Trump or his party want it, oppose it". And, yes, of course, I realize that this is "obstruction" of the same kind that we criticized the Republicans for pursuing. And, if I recall correctly, our criticisms didn't even slow down the Trumpies. So, yes, let's "get down on their level" and fight them in the sewers where they've chosen to reside.

"Nice", "civil", and "respectful", when not reciprocated, are a recipe for defeat.
