I don't know how good it to be in a prison in Norway, as I have never really been in a prison - the only time I have "been on the inside" was when I was there to repair something who needed to be repaired.. But compared to much of the world, I suspect our prison system to be "comfortable" and in many cases more like a Holiday for many who might else experienced horrible condidtions...
The principle behind our prison system is to rehabilitate the people inside.. It might look luxurious compared to what you in the US might experience but it IS a prison, who they have to obey the guards and follow the routines - anyone who doesn't do it, might experience that the prison is not that like a Holiday anyway... And I can not memory the last time our prisons had revolt on their hand, because the guards was outflanked.. Compared to the US, who prisons burn every now and then, our prison system is rather quiet and nice...
I doubt that Breivik, or someone like him is able to be rehabilitated in our lifetime.. What he did, was something that our court system are just not made for.. One or two murders is problematic enough, but over 80 killed.. That is many... But I also suspect that he will be kept in a prison cell for as long as it is necessary - aka the rest of his natural life.. Mostly because he IS a danger to everyone, also to himself.. And as he himself have stated - he would have being doing it again if he ever got the Chance to do it.. That it inself is reason enough to keep hem in a prison as long as human possible.. And Breivik will be some of a hot potato for the government when/if he ever was to get his freedom.. I doubt any Justice Minister in Norway, would dear to give him freedom.. Then the whole cabinet with the Prime Minister will be asked to step down by our Parliament..
