(1,533 posts)I have to disagree on this one point. I walked into my downstairs neighbor's apartment by mistake. It was after a long day at work, I was tired and walked up one less flight of stairs than I should have. Door was unlocked, not surprising since my roommate always got home before I did. Two steps in the door, and I could see that the living room furniture was all different. I was back in the stairwell before I knew it. No alcohol involved.
In no way does this excuse what she did, but it is entirely possible to wind up on the wrong floor, by accident, with no alcohol or drugs involved. Perhaps if one has never lived in a multistory apartment building, it is hard to imagine winding up on the wrong floor, but generally all the floors look the same. She should have noticed the red floor mat that he had in front of his door, but didn't. she screwed up big time, but being on the wrong floor happens.
