Even when you are doing everything right - job - home - family - they still have to try and demonise when they kill you... fucking racist wankers

(24,370 posts)They're fucking cowards. They will very often do ANYTHING to protect one of their own, no matter how egregious the crime.
The fact that the woman cop is so damned stupid as to not know which floor her apartment is on should be a clue that she might not be fit to be a police officer, but nooooo.... She was OBVIOUSLY in the right to shoot the guy after making a mistake that literally NO SOBER PERSON MAKES.
They will muddy the waters as much as they can. "Yeah, she shot him, but he was a damned criminal anyway, so no great loss."
Fucking assholes.

(26,080 posts)I keep seeing people on DU say she is a female cop, a lady cop, a woman cop. She is a cop.
The lady judge, the woman CEO, the female lawyer, the lady firefighter., the woman whatever. UGH.
Sorry, it is driving me crazy.

(1,533 posts)I have to disagree on this one point. I walked into my downstairs neighbor's apartment by mistake. It was after a long day at work, I was tired and walked up one less flight of stairs than I should have. Door was unlocked, not surprising since my roommate always got home before I did. Two steps in the door, and I could see that the living room furniture was all different. I was back in the stairwell before I knew it. No alcohol involved.
In no way does this excuse what she did, but it is entirely possible to wind up on the wrong floor, by accident, with no alcohol or drugs involved. Perhaps if one has never lived in a multistory apartment building, it is hard to imagine winding up on the wrong floor, but generally all the floors look the same. She should have noticed the red floor mat that he had in front of his door, but didn't. she screwed up big time, but being on the wrong floor happens.

(8,067 posts)"If you think cops are pigs, next time you need help call a hippie"?
Well, EVERY TIME I've ever needed help, and the cops responded, I would have been better off calling the hippies.
This most definitely includes the time I was raped. The cops in that instance were absolute jerks. A group of hippies could only have been better.
Edited to add: This in no way includes the fine people I've encountered in our fire departments. Maybe it's the fact that they don't carry guns, but much less swaggering, far more helpful.

(279 posts)This particular case I'm following and waiting to hear the eventual fallout. If this truly was nothing more then a tragic accident, manslaughter is appropriate.
Either way, the officer's career is toast, as it should be.

(58,785 posts)warrant was needed for the scene of a murder, and still don't, but I wouldn't get excited about that. Now, if they didn't investigate thoroughly...

(5,969 posts)Why the need for a search warrant for the shot victim who did nothing wrong, as far as one can tell? Why would it matter that they found this? At best, the cop showed up there by accident and shot him because of a lack of composure, bad nerves or incompetence.

(9,090 posts)least they're very loud in blaming the victim vs the cop (limbaugh taught them well during the trayvon martin and mike brown events) while using their megaphone to fight community legislative efforts to raise educational standards etc

(51,457 posts)of the crime: murder. Shouldn't they have gotten a warrant to search the "suspect's" home? This is so screwed up from a normal crime.

(65,060 posts). . . to investigate the actual scene of a crime?
Not saying i know an answer. Asking a question.
But, it seems odd that they would need a warrant when it's already an active crime scene.

(62,276 posts)...they made sure to cross every T and dot every I.
And then they leaked this unnecessary and irrelevant detail about his private life in order to poison the jury pool. Any competent judge would strike down any mention of his marijuana usage or possession.

(34,136 posts)One thing that has stood out to me with the video following the shooting - the cop still has her gun. Shouldn't her gun have been taken from her during the investigation?
And I appreciate that this video shows the differences between the two floors and that Mr. Jean had a red door mat while the cop had no door mat. I'd been wondering if the cop had a similar door mat at her door since the first reports showed his.

(31,413 posts)she didn't notice the red mat because she was holding items in her arms, then had to set them down on the floor (?)
I don't know why the news showed the mess in his 'searched apartment', since his family might have piled up his clothing for removal or when selecting an outfit for his funeral, sorting through his personal belongings, etc. It seems disrespectful of his family's privacy.
Have read reports that Amber Guyger has hired a public relations firm to help build a positive image of her 'accomplishments' (?)
