(3,515 posts)I remember the 2008 election. I was working election protection.
One voter, an African-American, proudly wanted a photo of him in front of his polling place with an image of his vote for Obama.
Hillary lost because of the vice president she chose. He is a great guy, but he did not catch the imagination of voters and did not win the election for her.
I may be very wrong, but I thought maybe she was hoping to get more votes in the South with her vice presidential choice, and he would have made a good vice president.
But getting elected is what should have been the top priority.
Several choices were open to her -- a member of a minority, maybe a Texas Democrat of Spanish-speaking heritage, and African-American (lots of possibilities) or obviously, Bernie.
Any one of those and her chance of winning would have been enhanced because she would have attracted an existing set of voters in crucial states.
Good lesson for the future assuming we are still a democracy in the future.
