Can someone explain to me why military and/or hunting families are pro-gun?

I am a pacifist as is my family for 3 generations. I have never even seen a gun yet I was shot at and heard the bullet whiz past my face a foot in front of me. I taught "routine" gun shooter drills with my first graders after Sandy Hook. I listen to Dems who are all over the place on the news and on DU discussing gun control and I keep hearing Dems say, "I COME FROM A MILITARY /HUNTING FAMILY ......" as though that is a reason to allow people to own guns. WHY? I am serious and confused. We are not at war in our own backyards (2nd Amend) and we have stores and freezers for food (kill anything as a sport?). I do not understand this mentality or philosophy. Is it some sort of "identity" about "who you are"? Please explain this to me since it is a foreign concept. Is it about how you were raised? This seems to be an American philosophy to me.

Mueller files new tax charges 32 counts, superseding indictment,

and tax charges to Gates and Manafort. "This means Gates is not co-operating and his attorneys are in chaos. Manfort will die in prison, horrific fed tax charges means life in jail".

I just heard this on MSNBC with Nicole Wallace.

March For Our Lives March 24 in DC and sister cities.
School safety is not a political issue. There cannot be two sides to doing everything in our power to ensure the lives and futures of children who are at risk of dying when they should be learning, playing, and growing. The mission and focus of March For Our Lives is to demand that a comprehensive and effective bill be immediately brought before Congress to address these gun issues.

Participants are also coming together to register voters at various marches, to ensure that outrage today will translate to high turnout during November’s midterm elections.

If they want to arm teachers than what is to stop some

teachers from going to the school board meeting and demanding adequate pay raises and benefits, you know how women get all emotional over nothing. Or how about Parent/Teacher conferences and the parents are mad that you gave their child a poor grade that they feel was not fair or deserved? The parents may think, "If the teacher is armed, than I can bring my gun too". I taught for almost 20 years and parents are very threatening and scary sometimes.

NRA's Wayne LaPierre and the Moron think this is a great idea. The teachers with guns would get extra pay so maybe they will stop bitching about low salaries...another problem solved.

The teaching profession is diff enough...this will drive more future teachers away from considering joining the profession. I say #ENOUGH !

There are National school Walkouts on March 14th
https://www.actionnetwork.org/event_campaigns/enough-national-school-walkout

There are also planned rallies in DC and a lot of sister marches nationwide called March For Life on March 24th (sort of like the Women's March) called March For Our Lives.

Same old NRA crap.

March 24th March For Our Lives

This is going strong. There is a growing list of events/rallies for DC and sister cities. This is separate from the March 14th Nationwide Walkout. This is planned events like The Woman's March to support gun control and stop killings in our schools. Check out the links below to see if your city is having one yet.

Less than a week after a gunman killed 14 students and three staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, survivors of the shooting have mobilized to launch the #NeverAgain movement, and the March for Our Lives, a nationwide protest on March 24 to protest gun violence.

“Not one more,” the March’s Mission Statement reads. “We cannot allow one more child to be shot at school. We cannot allow one more teacher to make a choice to jump in front of a firing assault rifle to save the lives of students. We cannot allow one more family to wait for a call or text that never comes. Our schools are unsafe. Our children and teachers are dying. We must make it our top priority to save these lives.”

Here’s everything you need to know about the march and related events.

When and where is it happening?

The main march will take place in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Supporters are also planning sister marches in New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, and dozens of other cities.

To find a march near you, search “March for Our Lives” on Facebook, or check out the comments here.

Who’s organizing it?

The event is being put together by survivors of the Stoneman Douglas shooting, like senior Emma González, and junior Cameron Kasky, who have been working tirelessly to make sure the national outrage in the wake of last week’s shooting translates to real action. But they are not mobilizing alone. According to their website, “March For Our Lives is created by, inspired by, and led by students across the country who will no longer risk their lives waiting for someone else to take action to stop the epidemic of mass school shootings that has become all too familiar.”

While it is unclear what other groups the Stoneman Douglas students are working with, they have received significant funding from a number of celebrities like George and Amal Clooney, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, studio chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Oprah Winfrey, all of whom pledged $500,000 for the rally.

What do they hope to accomplish?

In addition to showing their support for victims of gun violence, march organizers hope the rally will inspire concrete legislative outcomes. In their Mission Statement, march organizers write:

School safety is not a political issue. There cannot be two sides to doing everything in our power to ensure the lives and futures of children who are at risk of dying when they should be learning, playing, and growing. The mission and focus of March For Our Lives is to demand that a comprehensive and effective bill be immediately brought before Congress to address these gun issues.

Participants are also coming together to register voters at various marches, to ensure that outrage today will translate to high turnout during November’s midterm elections.

Is this related to the National School Walkout?

Yes and no. The National School Walkout is being put together by Women’s March organizers, who are calling for students, teachers, administrators, and allies across the country to walk out of their classrooms for 17 minutes at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14 — one minute for every victim of the Stoneman Douglas shooting. Although the two events are being organized by two different groups, their goals are the same. Per the National School Walkout’s website:

“Students and allies are organizing the national school walkout to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets and in our homes and places of worship,” organizers wrote.

Students have also called for a National School Walkout on April 20, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting. No time has been set, but a Change.org petition has been signed over 80,000 times.

How can I get involved?

If for whatever reason you can’t attend a rally on March 24, there are other ways to help. You can donate to the GoFundMe page Stoneman Douglas students put together for the event (any money they receive beyond their $2 million goal will go to victims’ funds) or sponsor a student to travel to the march by contacting info@marchforourlives.com.

And if you can go to a rally, get out and march with students and families across the country to tell lawmakers #NeverAgain.

State Dem Convention this weekend in San Diego.

Wish I could go. Too expensive and networking instead of activists is in vogue at the event. Sen Harris and Feinstein, House Reps Waters and Merkley, Tom Steyers, Newsome, CA Teachers Assoc, etc. will be there. Good info about the current opinions of Dems in the state (good and bad). 59% of Dems say a third party is needed. Overall Dem voter registration is up while GOP is down, but No Party Preference voters had the largest increase.

As a former teacher I would

grade the students A++++++++++ while the GOP reps get F- - - - - - - - - - ! #ENOUGH

Here is a lot of GREAT info that is current. You can do this to support gun control through legislation as well as activist Walkouts planned for March and April. The number has tripled since Fri. when The Women's March organizers let me know about it. RESIST!

Yes, a very real conspiracy, not the
