About Me

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.

CBS is showing Dick Van Dyke in COLOR now (PST)

as a tribute to Carl Reiner. I think I like it better in black and white though.

Colleges Face Rising Revolt by Professors, Most universities plan to bring students back to campus.

"Most universities plan to bring students back to campus. But many of their teachers are concerned about joining them."

"College students across the country have been warned that campus life will look drastically different in the fall, with temperature checks at academic buildings, masks in half-empty lecture halls and maybe no football games. What they might not expect: a lack of professors in the classroom."

"Thousands of instructors at American colleges and universities have told administrators in recent days that they are unwilling to resume in-person classes because of the pandemic."

"More than three-quarters of colleges and universities have decided students can return to campus this fall. But they face a growing faculty revolt. “Until there’s a vaccine, I’m not setting foot on campus,” said Dana Ward, 70, an emeritus professor of political studies at Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif., who teaches a class in anarchist history and thought. “Going into the classroom is like playing Russian roulette.”

Eric tRump's photo of Clinton with Ghislaine Maxwell backfired

and he had to delete it after tons of photos popped up with tRump and Ghislaine on twitter.

"Eric Trump’s tweet was captioned “Birds of a feather…” and showed Clinton walking his daughter Chelsea Clinton down the aisle at her 2o10 wedding, while Maxwell is shown in the background among other wedding guests."

"Both Epstein and Maxwell were known to travel in social circles with some of the world’s most rich and powerful people — including both Bill Clinton and Donald Trump — and many have pondered what evidence may exist implicating some of these bigwigs."

"So when Eric Trump tweeted that photo with Maxwell in the background attempting to kick some mud on Clinton, Twitter users responded seemingly instantaneously, posting photo after photo showing Maxwell — and often Epstein too — far more cozy with the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."

New record high in new Covid cases in US...57,236 and climbing.

*The day is not officially over, expect it to increase.

Yesterday the US hit a new high of 51,000 new cases. Deaths are also increasing.

CA extends unemployment due to Covid an additional 7 weeks.

Seven more weeks of unemployment benefits in California’s new budget plan...

"Millions of unemployed Californians could wind up with more weeks of jobless benefits as part of the budget deal Gov. Gavin Newsom and legislative leaders reached this week."

"The state legislation would authorize up to seven extra weeks of federally-funded emergency benefits, for a total of 20 weeks, if the state’s unemployment rate reaches a certain level considered the “high unemployment period” in the bill."

"That level would be hit if the average total unemployment rate reaches 8 percent for the most recent three months as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor, as well as other criteria."

Newsom orders new shutdown of restaurants, other indoor business in 19 California counties

His order requires restaurants, wineries, family entertainment centers, movie theaters, museums, zoos and cardrooms in the 19 counties to halt indoor operations for at least three weeks. The affected establishments are allowed to operate outdoors, such as restaurant patios. Newsom also ordered the full closure of all bars and breweries in the 19 counties, both indoor and outdoor operations.

Combined, the 19 counties include nearly three-fourths of California’s population. Besides the Bay Area counties, the list includes Los Angeles, Orange, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Fresno, Glenn, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Merced, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Joaquin, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura counties.

The governor said the state will also close parking lots at state beaches, including those in the Bay Area, for the holiday weekend. Newsom implored Californians to practice social distancing and wear masks as they mingle and travel for the holiday. He said people must “disabuse” themselves of any notion that people have stopped dying of COVID-19, noting that the statewide death toll hit 110 on Tuesday.

“Let’s do our best to meet this moment, as we met the moment many months ago and bent the curve again the first time,” he said. “Let’s do it again.”

On Tuesday, the state recorded 7,820 new cases — its second-highest tally in a 24-hour period — and surpassed 6,000 deaths. The state reported 5,898 new cases on Wednesday. Newsom’s administration began allowing counties in May to move ahead on reopening businesses including indoor restaurants and shopping malls if they hit benchmarks in slowing the spread of the virus and creating capacity to contain a surge.

Alarming updates about the virus’ toll continue to mount: San Francisco announced Tuesday that the city has seen a 49% spike in hospitalizations over the last week as patients from San Quentin State Prison and hard-hit rural Imperial County were transferred to city hospitals.
