Donald Trump Seems Jealous That Hillary Clinton Got to See Adele In Concert

British superstar Adele is at the center of the rigged system that’s conspiring to keep Donald Trump out of the White House, the candidate implied on Wednesday.

While Trump was posing for photos at his Miami resort on Tuesday and traveling to Washington, D.C. for the ceremonial opening of his gaudy new hotel, Hillary Clinton celebrated her 69th birthday at an Adele concert, landing the singer’s coveted endorsement in a personal shout-out from the stage. It’s not right, Trump told George Stephanopoulos in an ABC News interview on Wednesday, that Clinton was allowed to have a fun night on the town while he caught flak for using campaign press to promote his own businesses.

“I think it’s so unfair because, you know, Hillary Clinton goes to see an Adele concert last night, and everybody says, ‘Oh, wasn’t that nice. Isn’t that wonderful?’” Trump said. (To be fair, it was nice and wonderful, because Adele’s music is nice and wonderful. Trump hotels are neither nice nor wonderful.) “I did eight stops yesterday—three major rallies where, I told you, 25 and 15 and 20 and thousands of people. I did three, plus many other stops.”

Charles P. Pierce: This Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Trump Campaign Is Terrifying

This Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Trump Campaign Is Terrifying

They admitted they don't want black people to vote.

Thursday's required reading on the subject of Rats: How They Won't Fck Themselves comes from Bloomberg News, courtesy of Josh Green and Sasha Issenberg, who were allowed inside the guts of the Trump campaign—"Only the best e.coli. Great e.coli!"—to see what's actually going on with it beyond rallies and baseball caps. What they found should scare the hell out of two groups that otherwise have little contact with each other—people who care about the health of our democracy, and Republicans.

As to the former, the big noisy takeaway is an admission from "a senior campaign official" that the primary goal of the actual Trump campaign is to suppress the votes of people who have demonstrated a deep immunity to the appeal of El Caudillo del Mar-A-Lago.

"We have three major voter suppression operations under way," says a senior official. They're aimed at three groups Clinton needs to win overwhelmingly: idealistic white liberals, young women, and African Americans. Trump's invocation at the debate of Clinton's WikiLeaks e-mails and support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership was designed to turn off Sanders supporters. The parade of women who say they were sexually assaulted by Bill Clinton and harassed or threatened by Hillary is meant to undermine her appeal to young women. And her 1996 suggestion that some African American males are "super predators" is the basis of a below-the-radar effort to discourage infrequent black voters from showing up at the polls—particularly in Florida.

OK, so this is nasty and distasteful and dangerous, and it's a wonder that John Lewis doesn't just show up for work some morning with an ax in his hand and murder in his eye. But it can't really be surprising. Suppressing minority voters—rather than, say, earning their support with something beyond "What have you got to lose?"—is now as conventional a piece of Republican electoral strategy as tax cuts and fetus-fondling are........................

Hillary Clinton “lost as much as $6 billion in taxpayer money while she was running the State Department. Now, some people say it was misplaced. Oh, billions of dollars misplaced.”

— Donald Trump, remarks in Panama City, Fla., Oct. 11, 2016

In the past week, Trump has offered some version of this claim that Clinton “lost” or “misplaced” $6 billion of taxpayers’ funds while she was secretary of state. He argues that this shows she “is the vessel, a corrupt global establishment that’s raiding our country and surrendering the sovereignty of our nation.”.................

..................So, for the past two years, it was known that taxpayer money was not lost or misplaced. So what about the claim that the problem was Clinton’s fault?

The State Department is a vast bureaucracy, and it’s silly to blame Clinton for some missing paperwork in the Baghdad embassy
. But we dug through the footnotes of the alert and read the original audit reports to figure out the time period in question. Recall that Clinton was secretary of state from January 2009 to January 2013...................

........The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

The Pinocchio Test

The $6 billion was not lost or misplaced; it’s that $6 billion in contracts had missing paperwork. On top of that, the majority of contracts with missing or incomplete paperwork stemmed from the Bush administration, before Clinton became secretary of state. So it’s ridiculous to claim Clinton was in any way responsible for the problems with the contracts.

The only thing “lost” in Trump’s statement is reality.

Bice: Sheriff Clarke begins raising money for 2018

Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. is jetting around the country, picking up sundry awards, giving pro-cop speeches and doing everything he can to get GOP nominee Donald Trump elected president.

Clarke is like a guy without a day job.

But he very clearly does have one and — it turns out — he wants to keep it.

..............................................

"Please join me once again and consider a donation to my campaign," he continued. "Let's continue the good work we have started and continue to send the message to the pro-criminal establishment, defenders of the status quo, and a government that does not trust its citizens in order to help make Milwaukee County and America safer places to live."

Sounds like a page from the Trump playbook.

MLive Media Group Editorial Board: Hillary Clinton is best for Michigan

This is the opinion of the MLive Editorial Board.

The sheer noise of this presidential campaign has felt deafening at times. But amid the cacophony, this much is clear: Democrat Hillary Clinton is the best choice.

She is eminently qualified. Before ever taking public office, she was a Yale Law School graduate, children's rights advocate and first lady of Arkansas and America, a role she transformed in the era of women's rights.

Now, she's the first woman to ever get a major party nomination. We think that's something to applaud in itself.

Clinton didn't hesitate to jump into public office as soon as former President Bill Clinton's two terms were up. She became a popular U.S. senator who helped guide her home state of New York through the aftermath of 9/11. As Secretary of State, she met and negotiated with leaders of countries all over the world.

This blend of experience in both domestic and foreign affairs is well-suited to the presidency. Despite some mistakes – the use of a private email server, for instance – the 10 newsrooms that comprise MLive Media Group across the state believe she is the best candidate to move the country forward after this sour and divisive campaign..................................
