This cat introducing her kittens to a dog is so cute it actually hurts

Source: Metro UK

If you can watch this clip without getting the feels then you officially have no soul.

Here we have a mother cat with two of her kittens, but why is she letting them near this vicious dog?

According to the video poster the cat, a stray, has spent many years on the streets of Russia with the dog, and decided to bring her new kittens to meet her old friend when they got old enough.

Florida Rescue Cat Makes Amazingly Fluffy Recovery

Source: ABC News, Dec 3 2015

The amazing recovery of a Florida cat who was found covered in ants and severely malnourished has turned the cat into an Instagram star.

The cat, named Silas, was found two years ago by the oldest daughter of South Florida resident Marci Pence. Pence’s daughter, Chelsea, now 26, was walking her black Labrador when the dog kept pulling her over to a grassy area, Pence said.

“They found Silas in a pile of ants,” Pence told ABC News.

The family took Silas to an emergency veterinarian clinic where he was diagnosed with a lung and eye infections and deemed near-death with severe dehydration and malnourishment, Pence said.

Pence took the cat in and nursed him back to health, turning him into a healthy, 15-pound literal ball of fur.

Cat Comes to Safeway Store Every Morning to Hang out with Customers

Source: LoveMeow

A cat named Cecil has been a loyal ‘usher’ to the Safeway store in Portland, Oregon. He comes to the store almost every morning and spends his time greeting customers, making friends and napping away.

Sometimes he waits by the door and greets the customers as they walk in from the parking lot.

Some customers wonder if the cat is lost, so they call the number on his collar and get a message from his humans. It says if you’re calling about Cecil at the Safeway, don’t worry he just likes to hang out there. It also says that he lives nearby and “will find his way home when he’s ready.”

When Cecil is not greeting customers, he is on top of a stack of soda boxes by the window, watching the day go by or just napping away.

These Cats Lost Their Battle with Bees. How We Can Help!

Source: LoveMeow

When a kitty thinks they can win a battle against a bee, they often end up getting stung. As cute as they may look, it’s important for us, humans, to know how to help our fur babies out at times like this.

Cat’s nose after losing a battle with a bee.

Calmly soothe your cat, so they know your presence and feel comforted. If the stinger is still embedded in the skin, do not squeeze or rub it or try to remove it with your hands because you may break it. Scrape it out with a credit card or the dull side of a butter knife.

If your cat ate a bee and got stung in the mouth or throat, take your furry friend to the vet immediately.

After the stinger is removed, you can help get the swelling down with an ice pack. For more info check out this link.

Shelter Kitty Got Ignored because She Wasn’t a ‘Whole Cat’ until Someone Saw Her Differently

Source: LoveMeow

Meet Trinity! She had waited in the shelter for a long time. Many people passed her by because she wasn’t a ‘whole cat’ until a couple came into her life and thought she’s perfect!

Sondra shares the story with Love Meow: “She was skittish and terrified of the people looking for companions. Families were passing her by for two reasons. 1.) She wasn’t a ‘whole’ cat, and 2.) she was hissing and growling at everyone who opened the door to her cage.

She was 10 days out of surgery at this point. I do not know what the reason for the removal of the leg was, and when we heard the second story I stopped asking.”

They decided she was the perfect kitty to take home. “I knew that the next time I adopted a cat I was going to get a special needs kitty.”

Inmates Rehabilitate Kittens, Their Own Lives In 'Win-Win' Program

Meow-velous idea.

A Washington humane society has teamed up with a local women’s correctional facility to develop a purrfect solution to help both stray cats and prisoners.

The Kitsap Humane Society, in Silverdale, has developed an initiative called the “Pawsitive Prison Program” that places stray cats at nearby Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women to be rehabilitated by inmates. The program intends to benefit both prisoners and pets, by giving the women a new responsibility while simultaneously preparing the cats for future adoption, KING 5 reported.

“It's a win-win for everybody involved," Cydney Berthel, an inmate, told the news outlet. "We're rehabilitating the lives of these little kittens and rehabilitating our lives too.”

The program, which launched in October, assigns inmates at the Mission Creek facility, in Belfair, Washington, with either a stray cat or litter of orphaned kittens. Inmates must first be screened and have no convictions of violence towards animals or people in order to take part in the program. Participants then undergo training sessions with staff from Kitsap, where they learn about cat behavior and development, and how to properly handle the animals, Kitsap Humane Society explains on its website.

Stray Cats Guard Chicago Brewery, Protect Precious Beer Grain From Rats

Source: DNAinfo Chicago, October 30, 2015

RAVENSWOOD — If you're a brewery and you've got rodents chewing through 50-pound bags of expensive grain, who you gonna call?

Ghostbusters.

Meet Venkman, Raymond, Egon and Gozer — Empirical Brewery's "Ghostbusters"-named feral cat colony, adopted in December through the Tree House Humane Society's Cats at Work program.

"If a brewer says they don't have rats, they're lying," said Bill Hurley, owner of Empirical, 1801 W. Foster Ave.

Rodents are attracted to the extremely high-quality grain that breweries stock by the truckload. To the rats, it's like a "giant block of cheese," Hurley said.

Empirical hired an exterminator to pay regular visits to the brewery, but still found itself throwing money out the window in the form of gnawed-on bags of barley.

Enter Tree House, which has moved 264 feral cats within Chicago and 130 in the suburbs, according to Jenny Schlueter, manager of Cats at Work.

When these Kitties Discover Heated Foot Warmer…

Source: LoveMeow

Ever since these two sister kittens discovered their heated foot warmer, they are hooked and have been tucking themselves into the warming hot carpet.

It sure looks comfy!

@kokonananya from Japan shares that their two little kittens, Tora and Saba have been hogging their foot-warmer. They wouldn’t nap anywhere else once the heat is on. If the humans want to partake in the foot warming party, they’d need purrmission from the kittens.

“It’s getting cold, so I bought a heated carpet for my feet,” the human wrote. As soon as they turned it on, the kittens joined in the warmth.

Perhaps we can get through the winter with a heated foot warmer and our kitties .

Heroic Man Jumps in Icy Water to Rescue Kitten Stuck in Cargo Boat

Source: LoveMeow

This heroic man jumped in icy water to rescue a cat that was stuck in a cargo boat.

“A Ukrainian sailor rescued a cat trapped under the Cambodian AMUR2527 boat docked at the port of Illichivsk, Ukraine,” Vitaly Petrukhin shares the story on YouTube.

The crew from another ship heard the crying kitten and jumped into the water on a mission to get the kitten out of this plight.

“He did not hesitate to put on his survival suit to get into ice water to save this poor cat who had taken refuge on the huge rudder freighter, after falling into the water.”

Port dockers joined this courageous rescue and helped retrieve the black and white kitty to safety and warmth. This man reassured the frightened cat after this big scare by holding him tightly in his jacket.

The Japanese cat collecting game Neko Atsume is finally in English

Source: Boing Boing

Cat collectors rejoice: the cult favorite mobile game Neko Atsume has finally made its way to Android—and soon, to iOS—in English under the name Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector.

Originally created by the Japanese company Hit Point, the game had been available solely in Japanese since its launch, but the idea of collecting a coterie of cats in a digital backyard proved so adorable that it acquired a community of international fans anyway. Devoted players quickly created guides to help non-Japanese speakers navigate the menus, acquire fish and attract a wide range of kitties to romp around inside their phones.

"When we made the game we weren’t thinking about foreign users — we were only thinking about the Japanese audience," Neko Atsume project manager Yutaka Takazaki told the Verge. "It’s very helpful that the community is helping each other out." The English version also localizes the names of the cats to more typical English pet names, like Snowball, Smokey, and Shadow. If you've been holding out because the Japanese version seemed too complicated, now you have no excuse.
