I would add that if you teach politicians to not try and stop

children from dying in violent shootings, you can then make them do much less uncaring things with gusto. The capacity for being completely uncaring is established in the politician and renewed every election season and with every shooting of innocents.

Is this GOP Kabuki theatre just to separate people

from their principles? Thirty Two years ago my father, a lobbyist for the Canadian Trucking Association, went against his association when it came to trying to block the legislation the Government was putting forward on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods. My dad refused to lobby after a certain point. Safety came first. The association pulled the funding for his office. My dad went into his savings to make payroll for his staff. He then hired experts to create content so truckers could understand the new laws in a clear and simple way. Who bought the content? His former association members and Truckers across the country. They soon put the funding back into his trade association office.

My sister came across one of those association men in her travels in business. When he found up who's daughter she was he said something to the effect "I didn't agree with your father always..... he was standing on principle". Like there is even a choice. Like principles are an extra.

Maybe the NRA is just a gambit to separate politicians from their principles as children get mowed down in schools. Maybe that is the real prize to the GOP of the NRA..... separating people from themselves so they become more bendy by getting polititians to follow such henious indifference. This causes anxiety. And people clinging to something else.

We know destroying unions was to make people struggle and then start to think irrationally and with emotion instead of with reason as happens when people are financially insecure. And then vote using emotion rather than logic. And look how that turned out for those struggling. And for the world.

Maybe Disney has long been a threat to the GOP because it teaches principles. Maybe they were on a list to be attacked. Too civil society as teaching kids goes for the GOP.

Maybe that is the lens we should be looking at all the GOP actions and policy with: changing the make up of American's psychies. The NRA issue was not about guns or children to the GOP. It is about separating people from themselves.

Pierre Poilievre’s media strategy is pretty clear at this point: paint media as the enemy.

It’s a great way to dodge accountability for any missteps — past or present.

But the consequences of this strategy for underpaid, overworked journalists are very real.

The expulsion of Jews from Arab countries and Iran - an untold history 02 Feb 2021

The expulsion of Jews from Arab countries and Iran – an untold history
02 Feb 2021

This op-ed was written by WJC Jewish Diplomatic Corps member Andrea Mifano, was orginally published on the Brazilian Jewish news website Kadima in Portuguese on 3 December 2020.

"SNIP.. .....

Until the 1960s, approximately one million Jews lived in Iran and other Arab countries having arrived in the region more than 2,000 years before. Nowadays, it is estimated that only around 15,000 remain, as the majority of the Jewish population in Muslim lands were forced to flee their homes in the years following the establishment of the State of Israel. This mass expulsion and exodus is part of modern history, but inexplicably, it’s neither taught at schools nor remembered within the context of the conflicts in the Middle East.

For over 2,500 years, Jews lived continuously in North Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf region the first Jewish population had already settled there at least 1,000 years before the advent of Islam.

Throughout the generations, Jews in the region were often subjected to various forms of discrimination -- and in many cases, ranked lower on the status of society than their Muslim compatriots -- but they were nevertheless loyal citizens who contributed significantly to the culture and development of their respective countries.

Despite the positive influence that Jews brought to the places where they lived, more than 850,000 Jews were forced to leave their homes in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Morocco, and several other Arab countries in the 20 years that followed the Arab-Israeli war of 1948. Another major forced migration took place from Iran in 1979–80, following the Iranian Revolution and the collapse of the shah’s regime, adding 70,000 more Jewish refugees to this number.

I posted it not to deny any peace but to promote it.

Arab nations and Iran need to be for non jihadist governance in the Middle East. I don't think they are fans of ISIS. They should not be
fans of Hamas. They have ethnicly cleansed jewish people in their own countries in the past in responce to the founding of Israel by forcing them out of their own countries back in the day. Israel is not ethnic cleansing in Gaza. They did not tell them to go anywhere but to southern Gaza. The rest of the middle east should be for a two state solution in Israel, Gaza and West Bank. A right of return could be negotiated then. A light at the end of the tunnel. If Hamas comes back the cycle will just continue and grow. Then that was the intention of the people who planned the October 7th attacks....... they knew Gaza civilians would pay the greatest price. And that would then enrage 1.6 Billion Muslims. And those architecs are Hamas leaders currently outside of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. And some other military leaders from abroad. In order to not be manipulated by those architecs of Oct 7 who are Hamas leaders currently outside of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank and some other military leaders from abroad, all Middle Easterners should know their own history with jewish people..... and know themselves better in the process. Less likely to be pawns. And to that end they need to acknowledge Hamas' terror attack on Oct 6 in Israel as terrorism, and the start of this war, any time they talk of Gaza victims.

The Arab world in a humanitarian effort could have easily taken in the women and children of Gaza as refugees. They have the money and the resources as well as the world Red Cross. Why didn’t they? They had 3 weeks never heeded the warnings. The sick and infirm, the elderly all could have been saved. Why? Why didn’t they? Only to cry outrage now!

We have to get through. I hope all sane people have not left

Twitter as that is the only place that still is a town square. Musk has done all he can to alienate liberals but hopefully the people still there can get through to Trump's base. Liberals can't write it off. At least not this election.

This just proves improving mental health checks and getting warnings of plans for violence are

useless unless you take the AR 15 out of the equation. Warnings are almost useless.

"SNIP.........

Police across Maine were alerted just last month to “veiled threats” by the U.S. Army reservist who would go on to carry out the worst mass shooting in the state’s history, one of a string of missed red flags that preceded the massacre.

Two local law enforcement chiefs told The Associated Press that a statewide awareness alert was sent in mid-September to be on the lookout for Robert Card after the firearms instructor made threats against his base and fellow soldiers. But after stepped-up patrols of the base and a visit to Card’s home – neither of which turned up any sign of him – they moved on.

“We added extra patrols, we did that for about two weeks. ... The guy never showed up,” said Jack Clements, the police chief in Saco, home to the U.S. Army Reserve base where Card trained.

Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry, whose jurisdiction includes Card’s home in Bowdoin, said the Army Reserve tipped his department in September to the reservist’s threats, and the sheriff sent the awareness alert to every law enforcement agency in the state after his deputy came back empty-handed from a welfare check to Card’s home.
