Ok you phony-President:

I’m gonna cite Wikipedia:

In 1911, poisoning by drinking Lysol was the most common means of suicide in Australia and New York.[5] One of the active ingredients, benzalkonium chloride, is highly toxic to fish (LC50 = 280 ?g ai/L), very highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates (LC50 = 5.9 ?g ai/L), moderately toxic to birds (LD50 = 136 mg/kg-bw), and slightly toxic ("safe&quot to mammals (LD50 = 430 mg/kg-bw).[6]

You stupid stupid Bastard....

What this means is that it’s a poison and cytotoxic to certain cells of certain organs.

You're all getting it wrong:

What you do is boil the Clorox and place in a large bowl. Take a moistened towel and cover your head and the bowl and breathe in the fumes. This way it can access your lungs for maximum effect.

Then, forget that UV stuff. That’s for sissies and libruls. Obtain a carbon arc lamp from an old movie projector and begin staring at it at eye level, and have it proceed down the body to the soles of your feet. The blindness WILL be permanent and the burns will only take a few months to heal.

But what do you have to lose...?

Unopened bottles of Trump vodka shown to mitigate the disease

Now, I’m no alcoholic, but it makes sense that vodka produced by He-who-was-sent-from-God would cure this. Anyway, you have nothing to lose: prices of a bottle vary from 20,000 USD to 50,000 USD, financing available through Deutsche Bank with appropriate credit score. What is your life worth?

A free coupon for Trump Steaks is included, redeemability is first come, first served, with the requisite bottle of ketchup.

A couple reflective thoughts this morning...

First, I was thinking that the following scenario would play out: you go and get a test and it comes back negative! Great! So you merrily go about your way go back to your office push the elevator button and guess who pushed it just before you? A person virulent with COVID-19. Now, your positive but you are certain that you’re not. Two weeks later you wind up being symptomatic . You don’t understand: the test stated that you were negative. The fact is a negative test does not confer immunity. And with this virus, you are only Positively absolutely negative for the next 15 seconds. Something to think about.

Second, One may consider that this exercise which we have been enduring for the last couple months is the preliminary bout to the enormous problem which would arise if a truly deadly highly virulent virus “appeared”. Given the possibilities, we from the standpoint of societal norms, have been fortunate.Essential services have essentially been functional and we have had access to food, medical care, although somewhat compromised, and basic living needs. This did and does not have to have be the case. The effect of a truly deadly pathogen would very rapidly cause the nature of civilization to deteriorate in such a fashion that traditional living would be nonexistent. I always reference the terrific novella written many many years ago by Jack London entitled The Scarlet Plague. This is downloadable and should be read by everyone who thinks about these things.

Third and finally, the dismissal of an individual who is competent, intellectual, and whose knowledge base is rooted in fundamental science truths is in my opinion and impeachable offense at this time. The president has significantly demonstrated that he cares not one whit for the health and safety of the people of these United States. This is in violation of the oath of office and of a required devotion to the existence of the citizens of the United States, its other residents, and to mankind in general. If and when the history of this era is ever written, this man’s name will go down with that of Nero, Caligula, and other miscreants who occupied positions of power in man’s “reign” upon this Earth. We may yet see what species is the true lord and master: never forget the upshot of Wells’ War of the Worlds. Nature’s forces: evolution and natural selection, are very very powerful.

I had an "Aha!" Experience at dinner...

I know what this has felt like to me since the beginning: you know those movies where the train has been sent onto a track wherein there’s an oncoming train traveling at full speed and you’re just waiting for the cataclysmic collision.

I’ve been posting since the beginning in Wuhan that this looked bad...I was not alone by any means but I will say that I had real anxiety about this one because unlike Ebola or some other flu types, this is an insidious SOB.

From a literary point of view alone: it’s easily transmitted, it has a very long latency period wherein it’s transmissible, it doesn’t kill everyone, and so it can permeate a society which practices denial (can you think of one?), and it leaves long-lasting effects which may cause premature morbidity and mortality for many -this point hasn’t been discussed much in the MSM but is relatively horrifying and going to be a sort of post-polio syndrome later for many survivors. In addition, this virus seems to mutate rather easily and may mutate out of vaccine efficacy -we just don’t know what the endpoint is. This is A very significant and signal moment in mankind’s modern history. I for one have not felt this kind of anxiety in a very long time. And yet, I consider myself fortunate given my age and risk factors which are at least three. So far, so good.

We shall see....

I submit for your approval:

A 1938 story by the great science fiction writer L. Sprague de Camp entitled Hyperpilosity the plot follows:

In the Great Change of 1971, a virus infects humanity that causes everyone to grow fur all over their bodies. Initial reaction to the plague, dubbed "hyperpilosity" by the news media, is one of panic and horror. Various examples of the troubles resulting are told; the cast of the latest Tarzan movie, for instance, is reduced to frequent all-over shaving to be able to continue filming. There is a run on depilatory products. An immense financial reward is offered to whoever can identify the condition's cause and develop a cure. Against the playing out of plague-fueled societal crisis and change, protagonist Pat Weiss relates how he and his employer, virology professor Oliveira, strive and ultimately succeed in doing just this. Alas for their dreams of riches; by the time their work is complete, mankind has become accustomed to the new state of things and moved on; those who end up profiting are not the scientists but purveyors of currycombs and such.

*****************

Very soon living and dying of Covid-19 or whatever mutations may ensue will be as “natural” as dying from heart disease or certain forms of cancer. We as a race adapt to all situations and “move on”. Don’t think so? Just ask yourself why, when Democrats get into office following Republican crimes and malfeasance do we always accede to just “moving on”. I guarantee you this will occur after the Age of Trump. I for one dreAd the do-called “ new normal”.

This may or may not be interesting:

I live under the flight path of an Air Force base and have since the early 1980’s. We are used to the typical ebb and flow-during the two Iraq episodes it was a continuous stream of cargo planes and fighters, along with bombers and tactical aircraft. Generally however it’s fairly quiet with sporadic slight surges.

But in the last few weeks the volume has markedly increased with lots of fighters all day, punctuated by a couple of C-5 Galaxies here and there.

Many people wonder what’s going on...or not.

Rant: "Dr" Phucking Phil and the Onan-Master Dr. "Oz":

Lemme tell you this:
when I was a young dentist and had just opened my practice I was approached by a young lady who was the first on-air psychologist clinician in Philly who until recently had graduated to Fox News in her later years. But that's not the point...I rented space to her in my office and she would see clients who were eating-disordered and also a lot of adjustment-disordered individuals, some of whom were Philadelphia "Celebrities", which, in a dopey town like this (compared with NY and LA), are limited to a group of restaurateurs and on-air personalities, mostly news-folk and the like. Periodically she would appear on Teevee and discuss a specific individual who had agreed to appear and discuss her or his psychological issues.

She was, in my humblest of humble opinions, quite possibly the biggest bullshit artist I'd ever seen on the air, and I grew up watching those preachers and carnival barkers who masqueraded as game show hosts in the early days of the medium. Her generalizations were simply lists of the conditions described in the most recent DSM, and because she was reasonably attractive, and would give a half-smile while she was spouting this nonsense, she became a hit locally. She wasn't the shallowest person i'd ever met, but she was so frigging limited in her outlook and approach that even I, as a lay person with respect to psychology and therapy, was appalled. Eventually she moved on and I was rid of her and her holier-than-thou, sanctimonious personality.

When I watch these inadequate assholes on the air, I cannot help but say to myself, "Self: these self-aggrandizing assholes found a way to make real money without having to take the responsibility for having the sequelae of their bad advice resonate throughout their lives because they're not acting "professionally" and they really don't care what happens: it's like a stockbroker who tells half his clients to buy and the other half to sell: he is considered a genius by half his customers by definition. These two assholes have tried to be like Cher, Oprah, Prince, Usher, Bono, Sting, or Pink inasmuch as they want to be known by a single name implying not only celebrity status but also giftedness.

Giftedness my ass: "Dr." Phil McGraw is not licensed anywhere because he's..well...a creep. He spouts feel-good platitudes and is like most clinical professionals: covering up for his or her inadequacies - yes, we all do it, except he ain't no Dr. Joyce Brothers who at least was extremely intelligent and well-read and an ethical professional (an an expert in the field of boxing!) McGraw's sentences come out of one of three self-help books, none of which he wrote. It's a "one size fits all" approach - you're better off watching Jerry Springer who at least has an IQ in three digits.

Dr. Oz, chose that appellation because it is his name, but also is one syllable (see: Cher), implies that he's a Wizard, and in print looks like Dr. No, the first and in a way, the most iconic of the Bond films. He's a big proponent of alternative medicine and homeopathy and if you think that drinking your own urine diluted like a hundred billion times is going to prevent you from having cancer, gout, and quinsy, then be my guest. He's a liar and a charlatan, starting with conventional medicine and then going tangentially off into unproven, to say the least, treatment methodologies. Another ridiculous human being whose credentials are unfortunately Harvard and Penn, which lends I'm an air of intellectual and clinical respectability. He's the Liberace of physicians, laughing all the way to the bank.

How dare these two assholes get this much attention when competent, science-based, clinically excellent individuals are relegated to 45 second moments on little-watched cable tv, and spend most of their time explaining why the assholes like McGraw and Oz are dead wrong. and of course the moderator never assents, they just say: "we'll have to leave it there" as though telling the truth is some subterranean-level sin which should be lightly regarded.

In a society wherein the titular President says things like the "Virus is smart" to not be affected by antibiotics, what can you expect? Shit, I knew in third grade that antibiotics can cause replication problems in bacteria, but there was not effect on viruses because THERE WAS NO CURE FOR THE COMMON COLD, which of course, is...wait for it...a coronavirus.

Stupidity and benightedness reigns!

Serenity Now!!!!!!!!

In case of a tie the truck wins every time...

What level of stupidity is it to impede a 60000 pound object traveling at any speed? These Constitutional Right To Die people have my blessing to try. It’s the Darwin Awards on steroids.

If I recall correctly F=ma is true even in the Trump Universe.

Lots of police, ambulances, and coroners involved.
