How many Republicans have left their Party?

We see polls and reports that 95% of Republicans still support Donald Trump? But, 95% of what?

How many have left their Party because of Donald Trump? We see the "Never Trumpers", and those that have changed their registration to Independent or Democrat, on the TV shows, but are there any of those folks in the general population?

In the last election, there were Congressional districts with about 20% less turnout than in the 2016 election and that had voted for Donald Trump? Is there something in those numbers that the pollsters may be overlooking?

I have a difficult time understanding how anyone could vote for such a person? But he must remind them of themselves?

It's a simple little trick...

Just get up early in the morning, tweet any kind of bullshit, the more controversial the better, and it will be the news story of the day. Especially when the leader of the free world does it.

It's a simple way to control the narrative and to deceive and hide the real truth.

The media, with their 24/7 coverage, are always looking for something to talk about. The more political, the better. Trump's tweets fit into their garbage reporting very nicely.

It has worked for almost 3 years now, and there is no reason to expect it will change?

The sad irony of Walmart guns...

Walmart has always appealed to a certain class of American shoppers - the "God, Guts, and Guns" crowd. These were folks that did not have a lot of disposable income.

Walmart has been one of the largest retailers, if not the largest, in the sales of guns in the nation. It was a natural fit for their type of customers.

But now, it seems that Walmart has become the new epicenter for mass shooting targets? Some nut went into a Walmart in Springfield, MO just a day or two ago, in full protective military garb, an assault weapon, and a 100 rounds of ammunition.

He grabbed a cart and began filming himself and the people around him, as he rolled the cart down the aisle. Some quick-thinking person, or employee, pulled the fire alarm and the customers began to file out of the store. An off-duty fireman, held the suspect until police arrived.

But, I guess the irony is that the majority of the cars in the parking lot probably had bumper stickers of Trump, or the NRA, or some meme about his gun? They will never give up their guns. That's just the way it is.

But, this is where it stops.

Even rednecks should have the freedom to shop in peace, without the fear of being shot by some nut. Nobody needs that.

Military-style assault weapons should be taken off the street. We are not "at war" with our fellow citizens. It is an infringement upon our freedom and our right to be secure in our environments and to move about freely.

Guns are not popsicles. They should not be sold to just anyone. There should be a background check on every sale of a gun in our society, even if it is to a relative. They should be able to "red flag" those persons that might not should possess any type of rifle or firearm.

Even rednecks understand that there are common sense things that government can do to make our people more free - and less fearful of gun violence.

Something has to be done.

How impeachment would help the Republicans?

If impeachment were to happen before the end of the year, it would give the Republicans time to choose a running mate for Mike Pence? It would also give them time to make a "deal" with Donald Trump. He will not go quietly into the night. But, it will take a little time.

But, if impeachment happens closer to Election Day, they will not have time to re-group and gather their forces. The people will decide whether or not they want to impeach Donald Trump? Do the Republicans really want that to happen?

So, in my honest opinion, the sooner the impeachment happens, the better it is for Republicans. It will give them more time to fix their Party, but it will not relieve them of the burden of defending the crimes and misdemeanors of Donald Trump. They will carry that right up to Election Day.

Gerald Nadler will decide if he wants to send Articles of Impeachment to the full House for a vote. He will have to know beforehand that he has the votes in the House to pass it on to the Senate, or he would just be tilting at windmills.

Those undecided Democrats need to take a stand. Do they want to impeach now or closer to Election Day? Do they want to do their job and protect our Constitution or do they wish to continue exercising politics? Nadler needs to knows he has the Democrats on his side before he sends official Articles of Impeachment to the floor for a vote.

However, the Republicans will not see the benefit of impeachment. They will vote to not convict in the Senate. Donald Trump, at the rate he is moving, will be a very heavy load for them to carry by Election Day, in my humble opinion. It may be a decision they will forever regret?

We have to put our Country over Party.

It doesn't matter if we are Democrats or Republicans. We are all Americans.

Our Country is presently very divided.

There are those who say, "This is not who we are!"

Others have said, "That is who we are."

We have met the enemy and it is us.

Only the people have the power to change it. Their votes for the House and Senate are very powerful. They determine who sits in power in Washington.

It is up to the People to decide if they want to change the direction our country is going? How far will division get us?

If they do wish to change the direction in the House and Senate, then they will need to change the Senators and Congressmen that are heeding progress.

There are times when leaders step forward.

Just as Barack Obama stepped forward in 2008, when many thought the world markets might crash? Banks were crashing, the stock market dropped like a rock to below 7,000 and people were losing jobs at 750,000 per month!

Now, we have this mass shooting in El Paso and again, we have a leader step forward. No, it wasn't Donald Trump. It was Beto O'Rourke. Like ironic fate, it happened in his hometown.

All the Democrats have shown leadership in this crisis, but Beto has stood out, in my opinion.

This will weigh heavily in my vote come election time.
