People voted for Democrats in the last election so they could oversee the Executive Branch....

Because Republicans failed miserably.

They never wanted to get to the truth. From Mitch McConnell, to Paul Ryan, to Devin Nunes, they all carried water for Donald Trump and ignored the facts staring them in the face.

In a landslide, Democrats took back the House. The people wanted oversight of the lawless presidency. Donald Trump has not yet accepted that reality. He thought he could continue to be the dictator forever.

The investigations have now crossed his "red lines". They are looking for his tax returns and his financial statements. It is working its way thru the Courts. So far, they have not been kind to Donald Trump.

If this is more than Mr Trump can handle, there is a simple solution. He can resign the presidency. Otherwise, he should know that the investigations are just beginning.

His lies, stone-walling, and cover-ups will not work. Neither will his Nuremburg rallies with his followers. He will answer to the law, hopefully sooner than later.

The truth is that neither Trump nor Barr want to be impeached.

Trump has been acting as if he really wants to be impeached. It will be to his political advantage, and that is all that matters.

But, with all the talk of impeachment and the introduction of the words, "cover-up", into the discussion, it was more than he could handle.

He doesn't want to be impeached. It would be a blemish on his narrative of his presidency. It made him very angry.

The same with Barr. He decided he would cooperate with Adam Schiff's Intelligence Committee after all. He would release the counter-intel information that was not in the Mueller Report that was released. He doesn't want to be impeached. But it may be already too late?

Diaper Don with the glass chin...

He can dish it out but he can't take it. He can come out and accuse people of treason and all sorts of crazy stuff but when someone like Speaker Pelosi, comes out and accuses him of a "cover-up", he totally loses his shit!

Why did it piss him off so much? Because he is guilty of a "cover-up". He took the Barr conclusion of the Mueller Report, disregarding the Democrats, and declared himself "totally exonerated". Then he tells the Congress they don't have a right to investigate him. He doesn't have to show his finances or his tax returns or permit anybody, that works or has worked in his White House, to be questioned or investigated by the Congress. He tells them to ignore subpoenas. At the same time, he says, 'All of you know that I am the most transparent President ever."

He made that comment in front of the press today. I wondered how many were shaking their heads when he said that. Peter Alexander, of MSNBC News, asked if he was so transparent, why wouldn't he release the documents that the Congress has requested and permit Robert Mueller to testify?

Speaker Pelosi came out earlier today and accused him of a "cover-up", which is true, and he lost it. Rarely have we seen the rage and fear that he showed today. Pelosi got under his skin very bad. It's like she gave him a gentle slap and he went down for the ten-count....

What is the difference between "stone-walling" and "covering-up" ?

The media is accusing the Trump White House of stone-walling on everything, on documents and on witnesses. They are ignoring subpoenas. It is a blatant disregard for the law.

But, are they "stone-walling" or are they "covering-up" their criminal activities? I tend to think it is the latter? "Stone-walling" does not carry the same legal connotation as "covering-up" but that is what they are doing, no matter what language we use to describe it.

If the Democrats do not hold them responsible, then no one will. Our democracy may have been dealt a fatal blow?

Democrats wait two years for Robert Mueller to end his investigation....

...and for the mid-term elections to be over, so they could take control of the House and investigate for themselves what happened between the Trump team and Russia's involvement in the 2016 election?

But, as soon as they were scheduled to take over the House, Donald Trump shut down the government for 35 days. It was late in February by the time Democrats were able to get the new Representatives into place and to begin normal House operations.

Then, Donald Trump got his new Attorney General, William Barr. Mueller ended his investigation, voluntarily or not, we do not yet know? Then Barr gave his conclusions of the Mueller Report and proceeded to hide the report from Congress and the public for a month.

Congress had been on the job for two months by then. They were ready to investigate and do the job that the Republicans refused to do.

However, at that time, Trump and his White House, with the help of his new AG, went into complete cover-up mode. Trump accused the Democrats of wanting a "do-over". It was a blatant cover-up. Mitch McConnell went to the floor of the Senate to declare the investigation over. AG Barr announced his plans for a counter-investigation against the investigators.

With the stone-walling and the cover-ups, the Democrats are still waiting to get started on their investigation. Trump is using every lie and tactic in his very large book to keep them from doing their job.

It is now late May and Democrats have been in power for about three months.

To impeach or not to impeach is the question?

Speaker Pelosi is meeting with her entire caucus today to get a read on that very subject.

She has been preaching patience to the Democrats but most of the Democrats are tired of Trump's bullshit and total disregard for our laws. They are ready to make their case.

But, I think they are a couple of weeks away from making a decision. When they return from Memorial Day recess, they will be better prepared to choose a direction.

By then, they should be able to get a commitment from Robert Mueller to testify. That is almost a necessity before any talk of impeachment can continue. Also, there may be other Court decisions by that time? They may have the testimony of Hope Hicks and Annie Donaldson, although that is not a guarantee.

In my opinion, Speaker Pelosi will be able to persuade her caucus to wait a couple of more weeks to proceed with any talk about impeachment. They have waited for over two years - they can wait for two more weeks.

There is a lot of unrest in the ranks and Donald Trump has done nothing to quell it. He thinks it will be a political win for him. He should be very careful what he wishes for.

If there is no impeachment, Trump and the Republicans will go into the next election....

...loudly declaring that they were found innocent. No collusion! No obstruction! It was all a witch hunt!

It was all a waste of money.

How will that play in the voting public?

If Mueller agrees to testify behind closed doors....?

...Should the House Judiciary accept it?

Usually in private hearings, both sides come out and spin what they heard, sometimes at total odds.

But, would this be better than nothing?

Who stole the "stones" of Don McGahn and Robert Mueller?

Like most Republicans in Washington today, they have surrendered everything to Donald Trump and the Trump Party.

If either McGahn or Mueller wanted to testify before the Congress, they could do it. McGahn is a private citizen. They must have de-nutted him real good? What do they find so intimidating about Donald Trump?

Nobody is physically restricting Mueller or McGahn. The decision is theirs to make and they do not choose to make it. If they cannot speak up at this time, they have no excuses. They do not wish to speak up. They are not profiles in courage.
