Yavin4's JournalThis time next week, Mike Pence will be swearing in Roy Moore to the US Senate
And his colleagues will laugh and joke with him while they take photos with him. The Democrats will respond by.....sending out emails looking to fund raise on your outrage.
If you're angry about Franken as I am, the solution is to replace the party's leadership
with a new generation of real fighters. Abandoning the party is just cutting off your nose to spite your face. Time for new leaders in the Democratic party.
My sincere condolences to the good Democrats from the great state of Minnesota
You've sent America two outstanding senators, Paul Wellston, and now Al Franken, whose careers were both cut short.
Next week at Roy Moore's victory speech, we'll all get to feel soooo morally superior
Then, when he's sworn in into the Senate by Mike Pence and takes pictures with his family, we'll be proud that we chased away a real fighter in the Senate because we've gone high while they went low. Finally, as Moore votes to give huge tax breaks to the 1% which will trigger cuts in SS and Medicare, we can then explain to our hungry and sick elders that "yes, you're suffering, but we're morally better than Republicans."
The temptation of the bulldog
We cannot defeat the Republicans and their agenda by shaming them or appealing to their good soul or
reaching out to them with love and logic. That shit does not work on a soulless, power hungry machine that's willing to starve your grandparents and throw your kids out of school in order to win.
They don't give a shit about you nor your feelings. They don't care what you think about them. What you call them. That you protest them. They are ruthless assholes of the highest order. They will make deals with polluters, gun nutters, religious freaks, you name it if that means victory.
They win because they cheat and dare you to call them on it. And even if you do call them on it, they know that they use some sort of distraction bullshit which leads to in-fighting amongst us.
If we're not willing to fight these assholes head on, then we have lost before the battle has been won.
Franken will resign. Moore will win in ALA. And, the Tax bill will be passed and signed into law.
But, the Democrats won the moral high ground. Congrats. I hope that there's some sort of trophy that comes with that. So that when SS and Medicare are being destroyed with budget cuts and Moore is writing legislation to strip citizenship rights from the LGBTQ community, we can all look fondly at the Moral High Ground trophy.
Franken's accusers need to come forward.
If Trump's, Moore's, and Conyers' accusers can come forward so too can Franken's. And, no, Leeann Tweeden's accusation is not evidence of harassment given the overall tone of humor of that USO show and other photos.
If we let anonymous accusers force our progressive politicians to resign, then we are done. Absolutely done. The Koch-Mercer-Murdoch-Breitbart right wing complex will cut a check to anyone willing to make an anonymous accusation, and poof! We have to resign.
The accusers of Trump, Moore, and Conyers came forward, offered detailed evidence, and spoke on the record about what happened. Saying that Franken grabbed by butt during a photo or tried to kiss me without coming on the record in person is not enough to demand that a senator resign.
Anyone who is demanding that Franken resign is giving Trump and the Republicans a huge, big fat weapon to destroy us with. Meanwhile, they gleefully elect sexual predators to the senate.

Billionaires are money hoarders pure and simple.
No human being needs a billion US dollars. In fact, even $100 million is probably too much. Once you've acquired enough wealth to provide for your family, your grandchildren, and heck, even your extended family, it's neither healthy nor normal for you as a human or for society to keep acquiring money. It's unnatural and unhealthy. At that point in your life, you should seek fulfillment by helping out others and improving the overall condition of mankind on the planet.
