Hawaiian Japanese Americans in World War 2

Hey guys. I am posting with a question that I hope somebody could have some insight on:

I am of Japanese American descent and grew up with stories from my grandmother who grew up in Hawaii during world war 2. When she was a child, it is said that she had soldiers come into her home and confiscate anything that was perceived as pertaining to the emperor of Japan. However, outside of some incidents of internment in Hawaii, I was unable to find much information that documented policies and occurrences such as what my grandmother went through.

Any insight or resources would be helpful!

Trump raising millions in California

“He was amazing as always,” said dentist Harleen Grewal, 41, of Santa Clarita. “He talked about the state of the country, what we need to bring us back to the American dream, the American people, how we’ve got to think about our country first and close the open border. For me, as a legal immigrant, I feel the same way. Everyone can come in by the right process, the legal process.

A lot of these peoples’ livelihoods rely on their reputations. Do they really want the reputation of having given substantial amounts of money to the presidential campaign of a convicted felon?

More Trump conviction speculation: If no prison time, what would a likely punishment be?

If only fined, is it likely judge Merchan would give him a consequentially large fine? Or would it remain an amount that isn’t even a drop in the bucket for him? Could he fine Trump in an amount that would force him back into bankruptcy? I’m curious if there is a punishment big enough to force Trump into permanently suspending his campaign.

The Impending Supreme Court Immunity Decision

Will it -or could it, apply to the hush money verdict? (which covers a time when Trump was never president), or will it only apply to the January 6 efforts and the attempt to overthrow the election?

Israeli attack on Rafah tent camp kills 45, prompts global outcry

An Israeli airstrike triggered a massive blaze killing 45 people in a tent camp in the Gaza city of Rafah, officials said on Monday, prompting an outcry from global leaders who urged the implementation of a World Court order to halt the assault.
In scenes grimly familiar from a war in its eighth month, Palestinian families rushed to hospitals to prepare their dead for burial after the strike late on Sunday night set tents and rickety metal shelters ablaze.
Israel said initial investigations showed an attack against commanders of the Hamas militant group set off the fire.
Survivors said families were preparing to sleep when the strike hit.

This is evil.

Police pressured him to confess to a murder that never happened. Now, (The City of)Fontana(CA)will pay him $900,000

During a 17-hour interrogation in August 2018, Fontana Police Department officers questioned Thomas Perez Jr. about the disappearance of his father, whom Perez had reported missing. Officers alleged Perez had murdered his father and, when Perez denied the accusation, officers tried to convince him that he had forgotten the crime, according to a federal lawsuit, court records and video of the interrogation.

At the 16-hour mark, Perez told police that he had gotten into an altercation with his father and had stabbed him.

But a major problem with that confession soon emerged: Perez’s father was alive and safe. He had left the house he shared with his son and stayed overnight at a friend’s home near Union Station, according to court records. Later, he waited to catch a flight at Los Angeles International Airport to visit his daughter in Northern California. When police learned that Perez’s father was safe, they initially withheld the information and put Perez on a psychiatric hold.

After the ordeal, Perez filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Fontana, which also named Officers David Janusz, Jeremy Hale, Ronald Koval, Robert Miller and Joanna Piña as defendants. The Fontana Police Department did not respond to The Times’ request for comment about the $898,000 settlement, or the officers’ status within the department.

There isn’t enough money in the world that could rectify the damage they did to this man. Fontana Police Department needs a proper DOJ investigation into these tactics.

If there's any single issue that should, without a shadow of a doubt, boost the argument to add more justices....

It’s having two Justices who have a clear conflict of interest with democracy and the very institutions they represent.

Cost of fast food...

Not sure how many here even eat out at fast food restaurants but I’ve recently noticed that the cost of fast food is becoming comparable to the cost of regular sit down restaurants -while those prices are saying the same.

I wonder how this will effect the general demand for fast food over time, and whether people will start opting for sit down restaurants or eating at home, as they find fast food no longer save them much -if any money, or isn’t worth the financial strain.

At least 20 dead awaiting aid as Ceasfire is debated

At least 20 killed awaiting aid in Gaza as new cease-fire offer debated
At least 20 people were killed and more than 150 wounded late Thursday in what Palestinian officials in Gaza and witnesses said was an Israeli attack on a crowd of people waiting to collect supplies from an aid convoy in the north of the enclave. Israel’s military strongly denied responsibility for the killings in a statement Friday.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Palestinian gunmen opened fire as the crowd gathered and that some civilians had been run over by the aid trucks.
