Binged the entire season of Ripley

last night on Netflix. Fabulous. Shot in B&W. Much, much darker than the Matt Damon movie years ago. Tied to the work of Caravaggio and the story of the murder/killing for which he'd done.

Really well done, all the way round. And a great little surprise performance from John Malkovich near the end.

Colors of my garden

Shot yesterday looking toward the slightly red sky of sunset.
From the left, potted yellow pansies and the row of red azaleas. I've let English primrose go wild in the stone path, which will be pink blooms before long. Climbing pink rose on the trellis is Zephirine drouhin. Large purple plants on either side of the steps is lavender and the flat purple mass next to the lavender is chocolate chip bugleweed . Creeping purple phlox on the upper level toward the fence. Still a few yellow daffodils in bloom up against the retaining wall.

I had been out on my front porch--watching the dawn and colors change in the sky--

and came inside to see out back this gorgeous golden early morning light on the trees contrasted with the bright green of new grass around the pond, wild dogwood in bloom, and a darkened, cloudy sky. The gold was gone in minutes.
