roh-oh...Netflix now enforcing streaming limit ( see below link for add'l info)
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 05:24 AM by dixiegrrrrl
Netflix has started to restrict its users from streaming more than one movie at a time as part of its price hike.
The change could have a major effect on how families use Netflix. No longer can one person watch a movie from the iPad while the rest of the family watches another film on the Xbox, for example
As website Stop the Cap points out, Netflix has always had a policy that limited streaming, with those on a single DVD or streaming-only plan limited to streaming one film at a time.
But it appears as if Netflix just started enforcing this rule on September 1. The changes seem to coincide with Netflix's price hike, which took effect on Sept. 1 as well. Now, if you attempt to launch two movie streams, Netflix will block it and tell you that your membership plan doesn't support multiple movie streams.

Need to edit, I found more clarification: The news above is that Netflix is now ENFORCING their policy,

Depends on the plan you are on.
If you are on the Unlimited Streaming plan, the Unlimited Streaming + 1 DVD out-at-a-time plan or a limited streaming plan, you may watch only one device at a time.If you are on the Unlimited Streaming + 2 DVDs out-at-a-time plan, you may watch on up to two devices at a time. Members on the Unlimited Streaming + 3 DVDs out-at-a-time plan may watch on up to three devices at a time. The maximum is four devices at a time -- available for members on the Unlimited Streaming + 4-or greater DVDs out-at-a-time plan.

1. Well that certainly sucks!
My two kids have Netflix on their laptops and watch movies at school. This just pisses me off.

3. They've never implied it was for more than one film at a time.
Hell, if that were the case the whole neighborhood could chip in and share one account and password.

2. This is not
a good development.

We were looking into having Netflix and Hulu Plus since we only stream. (We also have a sizable DVD/Blu Ray collection for things we really like like LOTR).
