The trial of a former 3rd Congressional District candidate accused of assaulting his wife has been set for Jan. 28.

David W. Hedrick, the Republican Tea Party candidate who came in third in the August primary election behind mainstream Republican Jaime Herrera and Democrat Denny Heck, was in Clark County District Court Monday morning, where Judge John Hagensen set the trial date.

Hedrick, who is free on bail, was arrested Oct. 10 on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, a gross misdemeanor. He is accused of striking his wife twice in the back of the head during an argument at their Camas home.
