1. E3 had a close call with some projectile poop from E1 a little while ago

E3 was next to E1 and was maneuvering around in such a way that it was clear what was coming next, except that E3 was right in the trajectory unless he kept his head low. I kept yelling "Duck!" at my computer and fortunately he did at the right moment. It went right over his head.

3. I think dad was the architect and builder, mainly

There's a PBS documentary about this pair, and I think the dad was already using this nest when the new mom entered the picture. It shows how he would take charge of the nest building/repair and whenever mom would place a twig, dad would pick it up and move it elsewhere. They're a funny group, all of them.

It is deceiving. The parents look larger or smaller, depending where they are standing in the nest. I think it is 6 feet wide. They've raised eaglets on this nest since 2007, I think. They sure are growing fast!

6. they're just a young eagle couple

and that's their "starter" nest. They'll be trading up in a year or two. If they can get a mortgage.

Finally they moved to a different, more stable tree with more room for expansion in the same neighborhood.

It's always nice to see a young couple moving forward in life. :D

8. Oh, heck, these eagles are nothing.

I have a nest outside my front door, and this is the third year a family of birds have inhabited it. First year, when it was built -- and it went up in about two days -- Some kind of small birds I didn't recognize raised three young ones. Last year it was some kind of swallows. This year, I think it might be robins, only because a couple of weeks ago I saw a robin toting a feather, and this year the edge of the nest is decorated with feathers.

My nest is about ten feet up, and I don't have a ladder to climb up and peek in. Plus, if I'm right about the robins, I didn't know that robins ever took over nests like this. A decade or so ago a pair of robins built a nest on a fence post in our back yard and two babies were raised that time.

The annoying part when the nest is inhabited is that I get quite a bit of bird poop right outside my front door.
