2. What happened is exactly what was predicted when the tax cuts were enacted.
None of this was a surprise....although the depths of illegality in the mortgage industry did exceed all expectations. However, the blithe lack of prosecution has been normal.

6. Easy Al is to mainly blame for this one.
The economy was due for a recession in 2002-2003 after the dot.com bubble burst, but 'ol Easy Al wasn't about to let that happen. Pump cheap Fed 1% money into the economy and let a bigger bubble build...the housing market.
