Funny during the reagan to bush presidency there was no problem with deficit spending. In fact I
was hearing the myth from the repukes and their media spokes people how deficits didn't matter. Stockman was ridiculed and resigned because of it, and those who talked about it were ignored.

Now after the free pass given to the republican administrations who created the problems we are going through, and a Democrat is in charge, it is now an issue?

Where was the media during the republican trashing of our jobs, economy, deregulation, and debt, that brought us to where we are today?

and for that matter, why is this administration letting the republican agenda continue in this regard?

1. We could cut everything to balance the budget.....
...and the next time the republicans get in power, they would pass tax cuts for the rich to fuck it all up.

13. That is the plan
Cut taxes, generate deficit, spread fear about deficit until spending cuts forced. Then when things are better, cut taxes again. They have done this on both the state and federal levels.

6. It doesn't matter what Democrats do in Congress.
The conservanazis will continue to run up the debt until the government is crippled. The only thing the US could do then is have a huge military either for defense and most likely offense. A country in perpetual war to satisfy it's multinational corporations.

8. Once Republicans get in charge again you can be sure that spending will increase dramatically.
While still cutting the budget on useful services.

Gifts to industry and military will increase and the overall debt will start jumping up again.

It's always the history of Republicans.

12. Just that old double standard at work. Also since Reagan the R's used deficit
spending to beat up on D's for their support of social safety nets. It is ironic that Reagan's famous welfare queen statement was made because of Carters deficit spending to show what those damn D's wasted tax dollars on with tax and spend policies. When the media started complaining about Reagan charge and spend deficits after his tax cuts to the wealthy, Reagan then claimed deficits didn't matter then he raised taxes on the middle class and media was ignored when they claimed that didn't lower the deficit, Reagan would just get up and say "well there they go again", which made the nit wits think it was just the media picking on his policies.

When Bush said "no more taxes" he got jumped on and it caused him to be a one term president. What people seem to miss was he didn't put more taxes on the middle class he put them on the wealthy which made the nit wits upset. Reagan had told the nit wits that they would need those tax cuts when they became one of the wealthy, even though their hourly wages decreased or stagnated and they were working longer hours for basically the same pay, they believed the rich would trickle down on them if the rich got tax cuts. It was a rather interesting time to have been in because even to this day those who Drank Reagans lemon koolaid still buy into the trickle down crap.
