Women as "mud" and "dirt"
I just saw a commercial for a mop. (The quicker-picker-upper, i think).

Two women laying on floor. One was called the other dirt and the other called her mud.

These women were in minature as they were made up as specks of mud and dirt.

Well, the mop shows up and one woman runs and jumps on and says something like,

now that's what i call a pickup.
It reminded me of the toilet cleaner commercial where the talking toilets were women.

That one drew alot of complaints.

I wonder how long this one will last.

10. But notice how fast this turned into a "male bashing" thread...
when that was not the issue at all!

What's going on here? Hmmm?

12. How is pointing out the inane media characterization of men being to dumb to do housework
bashing men?

Both the scenario described in the OP and the meme that men are too dumb to do housework are negative stereotypes.

14. And they're fun and lovable, whereas women are nagging buzzkilling harpies.
It's not like women come off well in that stereotype either.

6. Well, despite whatever you think of the "meme", women STILL get paid LESS
for the same work!

Do you think that's an accident?

8. I haven't seen that one, but lack of creative skills seems to apply to this ad

among others. Gimmicky ads aren't my favorite approach; I'd much prefer the old-school types that appeal to real-life situations that people generally relate to, like an old Anacin commercial: a woman is standing in the kitchen with one hand against her face, while her mother is telling her how to cook. In exasperation, the daughter says, "Please, mother, I'd rather do it myself!"

So many people could relate to that situation that the phrase became popular, as well as a mental connection the product.

These days I'm the new brand of advertisers' worst enemy; I totally shut their commercials out & don't pay any attention to them. :)

9. I just saw this commercial as I was reading your post!
Some of these advertisers, and their agencies, are clueless!

11. call the company, and voice your complaint. and, if you can find the ad agency, register your
complaint with them, as well.

I tell them that, since they demonstrate such contempt for women, they will not be getting any of my money with which to spread their garbage.
