Just wondering. Maybe someone should update the logo at the top.

3. It is, as always, the Poutrage of the Day Underground.
Enjoy it. It's the liberal version of The Colbert Report, without the self-awareness of irony.

today.

4. Congratulations on starting another Michael Vick thread.
Gotta love the irony! :hi:

This seems to be DU's topic du jour. Like most others it will fade in time, and we will move on to something else. Don't sweat it too much.

Threads created to complain about threads about the issue the poster thinks have too many threads about already...

8. Who says I was complaining?
Thought maybe Skinner sold rights to the sight to some Michael Vick organization. :)

9. Apparently so, and now that he is being used to bash Obama is very convenient.
If they can start threads tying Vick to Obama and put them in the Presidential Forum, then all the better. It just provides additional opportunities to attack the president without even considering what the president actually said and the original reason for his phone call to the Eagles franchise. Part of this is the media's fault. They just love to stir up division within the Democratic Party. This is evident to me because of how they report on an issue, only providing half of the story without context or explanation.

10. That's it! I'm 'buttoning' ALL these threads now.
Including this one.

(Never 'tried' it before, so it's a 'new' experience. I hope it to be a funny one!)

Bye.

15. I am rather amused at threads
that note news about the famous or infamous on a board like this.

I know DU tends to be diverse, and that's good, but the fascination with celebrity on occasion here seems to reveal the depths and extent of a social phenomenon.

I'm not criticizing other people's fascination with noteworthy figures, especially when it comes to the personal lives of stars and athletes. The question is why and how those kinds of stories have such a draw and impact on people's attention in times like these when there are some critical issues to learn more about, focus on and discuss.

16. It's the Outrage of the Week!
Edited on Tue Dec-28-10 02:51 PM by TexasObserver
Next week, it will be about some guy who had sex with a woman and didn't call her back, even though he said he WOULD call her back.

Or maybe about some woman who reprimanded her child in public and should therefore have her kids taken away.

Or maybe someone whose bumper sticker isn't socially acceptable so they should be confronted and berated.

The need to feel outrage is a powerful force.

I'm outraged about the wars and discrimination against gays. After that, my outrage meter drops off considerably.
