3. They dropped the best dish in the past few years
Chicken Picatta I think it was called. Haven't been back after they dropped that.

9. just ask for it anyways
I have never been to an Olive Garden but I bet they would still make it for you. I cooked for about 25 years and have a degree in Culinary Arts, trust me. Picatta is a classic dish and easy to make. I'm betting someone would throw it together for you.

Artichokes in it. Had a unique flavor from anything similar offered. I might do that and ask them if they can resurrect it for me. thanks.

4. I may be asking for trouble, as I know the Olive Garden is a symbolically contenious topic at DU,
along with circumcision, but what actually is the crux of the debate? I missed the original argument some how and have been wondering for years now, but been too scared to ask.

10. someone asked (lounge) for a recommendation for a local restaurant
and another poster responded with Olive Garden (chain, as opposed to a local establishment). At the time - reading it - the piling on was harsh. Now - its sorta funny (per the pile-on blended with shiny object phenomenon that occurs from time to time at DU.)

17. Is that really it? Hmm...I thought it was something specific to Olive Garden.
I remember Doug's character on Weeds went on anti-Olive Garden tirade as well. I thought perhaps there was more to this.

23. I think the DUer ate at an Olive Garden in Manhattan.
And the thought was - all the great restaurants in NYC and you eat at an Olive Garden?

25. I recall an episode of The Office
where Michael Scott was expounding upon NYC's greatness, then pointed to a Sbarro (regional pizza chain) as an example of 'authentic' New York pizza.

Crowded as hell, seat wait was only 15 minutes. And then me, the wife and the kid ordered food, plus dessert. Cost me all of $15. How? $50 gift certificate from a friend.

So is their Minestrone Soup! (Is it weird that Minestrone was in the DU dictionary, but it took 4 years for "Obama" to be included?)
