How 'bout a Boomer Organization. Like AARP but without the CRAP
about insurance and all the other stuff that has ruined AARP, imo. Anyway, something for Boomers. You know, Boomers have done their part in messing up America. Well, now is our chance to redeem ourselves and save the good ol' USA, and maybe the world.

How about leaving religion out of it and concentrating on a few really important things, like: Saving Social Security and Medicare; Universal Health care; publicly funded elections; Renewable energy to provide jobs and fight climate change.

There are tons of us Boomers and if we focus we could make a difference, imo. What do you Boomers think?

21. But it was taken over by people in the insurance industry...
Hence the medicare fiasco a few years back when AARP supported privatization....They lost a ton of members over that but did recover nicely. There is nothing about AARP except hotel discounts and insurance programs.

3. Alliance for Retired Americans
http://www.retiredamericans.org/about/mission-statement
"A primary objective of the Alliance is to enroll and mobilize retired union members and other senior and community activists into a nationwide grassroots movement advocating a progressive political and social agenda-one that respects work and strengthens families. The long-term goal of the Alliance is to become the voice for all older Americans. By engaging in important political battles to protect and preserve programs vital to the health and economic security of older Americans, the Alliance will gain recognition as the country's leading progressive grassroots senior organization."

8. They are currently charted in 27 states.
I don't know how active each charter is but they can only get better if progressives join.

Are they securely in AARP's corner, or what?

14. I'm sure this is a good deal, too. But most Boomers aren't retired.
The number of retired Americans is going to go down, I imagine and many can't afford to retire. The Boomers are tens of millions strong and need focus, imo. Something specific needs to be created. If some articulate Boomers, like Al Franken or ????, would get the ball rolling and limit the focus to some of the things mentioned I think it would have good effect.

4. The time is now
We need something with guts, something you can sink your teeth into. When they start "endorsing" companies--the evil empire we lose power. Each time they add another prong like religion which ends up dividing more the uniting the entire power becomes diluted. We need to not fret over the frills and little details. There are several major issues that need our attention(and of those elected officials)now. We can't afford to wait. Many of us are on that cusp of retirement, early retirement, disability,or pushed out of our jobs due to the economy or other circumstances.

that would sting.

12. Did Alan Simpson piss ya off?
He is part of the "establishment" that the young men and women of the 60s railed against.
Yet, most boomers went their own way as the 70s came to an end.
Raised families, got jobs, started businesses, and watched how the establishment fucked your generation time and time again.
Now they're fucking your children's generation, and still the boomers sit on their hands, run their fingers through their graying hair, and ask "who is going to stop this shit?"

Now we have to work twice as hard to take control of the House back in 2012.
At the same time that some boomers have walked away from Obama.

20. I think we must! There is no one else to do it!
We're the ones who let the establishment walk all over us, now we must take it over and mold it into shape.

Before it's too late, like some boomers already think it is.

13. I'm tired of
being stereotyped and depersonalized and even more tired of that old refrain that Boomers have caused all the evil in the known Universe. Personally I think it's too late for America. We're too far down the slope of crumbling Empire.

18. Boomers have caused our share of pain. But we can FIX IT! I'm sorry
you have given up hope. Maybe a Boomer resurgence will help you and others have something to fight and live for. Think of others and try to make things better. It is not just the US but the whole planet.
