So, If Someone Could Wave A Magic Wand...
Edited on Sat Mar-19-11 10:09 AM by WiffenPoof
...and we would get everything that we asked for as Progressives (former Dem Party members), would this country be receptive. Or would there be such a backlash from the lowbrows that this country would be even more divided.

This is an important question because so many here believe (count me as one) that this administration and the President have not acted Progressively or as true Democrats. So, what if they did...would we be better off considering the opposition?

On Edit: I suppose the real question is....is it too late?

1. I am 100% convinced that
if we could get rid of the right wing propaganda networks, the country would be forced to think for itself, and people would vote for progressives rather than regressives.

9. +1000000
Almost every teabagger I've met merely parrots what they hear from Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, etc. They have no real capacity to think for themselves.

2. would we be better off considering the opposition?
Not in my opinion. They consider nothing except their self centered ideas, I think they are dangerous and becoming more so the longer they keep getting everything thrown their way. Eventually the pendulum will swing our way but I won't give an inch to allow political "morans" one more inch. (Of course we all know how much I have a say in anything).

would this country be receptive."

Thats what people thought "change" meant in 08, so the answer would be yes for the majority.

4. The majority of this country would be receptive to results.
And wouldn't give a shit how the policies are labeled after they were actually given a chance to work.

6. Falls neatly in the category of...
"Careful what you wish for..."

I honestly don't know what some folks here would do if they got everything they wanted. Also, I doubt it would be the rosy paradise many imagine...

8. Short Term = Backlash.... Long Term = Receptive
It has been said that you can't argue with success. As long as we could make our initiatives work (which I am convinced we could/would) then the backlash would die out and people would accept the improvements.

10. Which could be short-circuited if I could throw a few extras into that magic wand wave.
REREGULATE BROADCASTING. PARTICULARLY THE NEARLY NON-EXISTENT OWNERSHIP RESTRICTIONS.

Which would disrupt the enemy's lines of communication - maybe not completely, but enough. Whatever would disable their ability to propagandize so thoroughly - would be the priority.

And I'd want to look at how to tax and double tax all those "institutions" and "foundations" and other various "think" tanks that are the nurseries of their propagandistic shit. On top of raising taxes on the multimillionaires, billionaires, and their corporations, starting with the purportedly "too big to fails."
