Something I wish the Democrats would try doing from time to time, instead of pursuing their endless quest for the chimerical bipartisan resolution. I could use some firing up every now and again, even if the effort doesn't result in any substantive change. Sometimes it's enough to try, so that the path can be laid for later success. The Republicans do this all the time, and eventually, because people have heard enough of their yammering, it eventually makes sense (for example) to try cutting the tax rate for the wealthy.
Yes, it's every bit as disastrous as we warned, but some people just have to find out for themselves. Now, three months into the latest grand experiment in appeasement, some Democrats are beginning to reconsider their acquienscence to the Republican nonsense. Of course, now the Republicans are on to their next stage, which is cutting the tax rate for the wealthy even further. And there are some chuckleheads in the Democratic caucus who are saying, "You know, that might not be such a bad idea." And the Republican echo chamber is already gearing up with the sound bites that Democrats want to raise your taxes by opposing the latest Republican bad idea (as if a lower tax rate was already in place).
