17. I'm not a war supporter but
all invasions are Illegal. When the Allies invaded Europe in WWII, it was a coalition of countries invading a sovereign nation, but it was necessary. You can't just say the invasion was illegal, you have to have better reasons we have to leave now.

6. A vote to continue to burn $3,000,000,000.00 a week in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan will cost nearly $105 billion in the 2010 fiscal year that ends Sept. 30, including most of $33 billion in additional spending requested by Obama and pending before Congress. Iraq will cost about $66 billion. In fiscal 2011, Afghanistan is projected to cost $117 billion, Iraq $46 billion. To date, Pentagon spending in Iraq has reached $620 billion, compared with $190 billion in Afghanistan.

This is how empires end. Moral and financial bankruptcy supporting wars without end. Shame on Democrats for voting this to continue, given the dire economic straits for the taxpayers in this country.

33. You're very welcome, also here is an alternative ...
start a thread in the Congress forum as it is hardly ever used and easy to find. Make sure to add the Congress forum to "my forums" so it is always at the top of your page.

Added this close to 3 years ago and it is only on page 2 in the forum.

How to use the C-Span Video library...

Then why do all the tea partiers get so much press?

Let's double that 93 # in 2012! Something good to work for!

may indeed be Teabaggers - just don't want to spend the money on the war (which is fine by me, I'll take votes for that any day!)

18. Yeah, it's just laughable...
...that anyone would dare to fight for what is right, against incredible odds, and keep fighting even when they lose votes.

He got >20% of the House to vote FOR it, in spite of it being an incredibly conservative (and nutball) body right now.

In the meantime, the House Republicans had an EMERGENCY committee meeting to push forward on defunding NPR, which they brought to a vote and it won. I wonder, do you have the same contempt for the yahoos who saw that as an EMERGENCY at the same time that the catastrophe in Japan is occurring, at the same time that American jobs continue to disappear, at the same time that our coffers are being drained by two ongoing ILLEGAL and IMMORAL wars? Is it your contention that a good Democrat is one who sees the inevitable and just rolls over, rather than fighting back? Is it your contention that there is no moral dimension to the matters before Congress?

You go, Dennis, keep up the good fight. History will record who was on what side, and you are on the right side of history on this matter.

39. True that...
...but there is always a place for the appeal to conscience. Not to mention the appeal to fiscal prudence, and the rule of law. These wars are an affront to all of those.

Neo cons have been controlling Congress since 1980, but it's Dennis' fault for being "ineffective"?

I guess a lot of Dems here on DU are equally ineffective, then. Shame on us, eh?

44. Arrogance, you say? Who were the arrogant journalists and talking heads..
telling Democrats that they've been had? Who were the arrogant jerks in the blogosphere actively trying to suppress enthusiasm, and ultimately, turnout in 2010? You speak as if St. Dennis, of the "I saw a UFO" fringe is even remotely in the mainstream of the Democratic party. Sorry, but that's your fantasy, not mine.

Dennis is a kook, and while he may be the loudest rep we have in Congress, he is arguably the least effective. Much like Michelle Bachmann, he has a following, no matter how loony they may appear to the rest of us. :hi:
