UK political advisor: "If we don't get the white folk angry he's gone," he warns.
http://www.411mania.com/politics/columns/178346/Getting-the-White-Vote-Angry.htm

April 27, 2010. Nine days away from the UK general elections. Phil Woolas, Immigration Minister and incumbent leader of the Oldham East and Saddleworth constituency is facing possible defeat as rival Liberal Democrat, Elwyn Watkins, gains ground on the Labour Member of Parliament. Campaign advisers for Woolas are worried; with their candidate tarnished by association to the unpopular prime minister Gordon Brown, and facing the possibility of tactical voting that could overturn his already slim majority, Joseph Fitzpatrick, campaign manager, emails his colleague Steven Green to discuss strategy. "If we don't get the white folk angry he's gone," he warns.

Over the next week, campaign literature floods the constituency, aligning rival Watkins to Islamic extremists, and Woolas as the sworn enemy to their fanatical demands. May 6, 2010. Woolas wins by 103 votes.

It's a strategy endorsed throughout the western world, and one that has proven immensely successful since the global economic crash of 2008, as politicians take advantage of the increasingly bitter, desperate and divisive climate the crisis wrought. With elections looming in the US and much of Europe next year, right-wing parties, financed by the same groups that perpetrated the financial disaster, are embracing the strategy with increasing zeal.

As a self-confessed atheist, liberal douchebag, I don't feel any affinity to Islam or those who follow its guidance. I find the literal interpretations that are allowed to fester in certain parts of the world as equally abhorrent as the literal interpretations Christianity used to get away with in Europe before citizens began to escape its authoritative shackles (largely on the back of those certain parts of the world now rendered less 'civilized'). But the treatment of Muslims today has precedent in the treatment of blacks and Jews before them - minorities whose strange exoticism is exploited by those in power to avoid responsibility for the stagnant, albeit personally-rewarding, society they oversee and maintain. Like the unions and foreigners I referred to in my previous columns, the actions of the few are skewed to portray the whole, all to benefit those who seek to perpetuate the status quo that keeps us and them apart and me and you divided.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"They" (Muslims, Jews, Blacks, immigrants, gays, etc.) are out to get what is "yours"! "They" (don't be confused into thinking that they are workers just like you) are the ones you need to focus your anger on. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

1. Excellent post
They did the same shit with communism and continue to do the same with socialism.
They have to divide and rule because otherwise we'd all get together and lock the bastards up in prisons.

4. What you said!
There just might be room in those corporate prisons they own(ed) if we let all the non or most of the non violent drug offenders out to put those responsible for the mess made by the right over the last 30 40 yrs.

I could go on a several day rant, just say that some of us have been paying attention to the propaganda and twisted rhetoric and are not amused.

Free and Brave? why are we so scared or rather why are they trying so hard to make us be skeert?(sic).

Family Values..hate gays, be vocal about it.

Letting 'Capital' work to create jobs..then tax breaks to the corporate 'donors' to send those jobs overseas.

The Theocratic/Fascist followers of Palin and Teahadist Corporate playas.

I can relate to jobs going away. The whole mess is sickening truly.

I myself was industrial construction, and very small scale furniture restorations.
Job sec in right to work states does not exist, shoot you can't always count on the paycheck even.

My partner was repeatedly outsourced/downsized in the 90s.
Again in 2002 we experienced what most folks had to wait until 2008 to feel.
We had a big change in life, moved to another state.
It being cheaper.
He finally found a job after about 8 monts(savings etc long gone).
We moved to the city where the job was, he was at that job since late 02, no raises, a few benes and a pink slip this week.
Looks like the place is about to go under since others were let go too.

Partner has at least seen interest from several headhunters and a couple of employers. Wish us luck please. We have been here too often.

3. The same kinds of despicable tactics are used world wide.
They use fear of "the other" to get elected. This results in leadership by unprincipled unethical sociopaths.
