Scott Renfroe: Mandating Recess Time Could Lead To 'The Feminization Of Our Boys'


A bill that would mandate a minimum amount of recess time at Colorado elementary schools came one step closer to becoming law on Friday, but not before one lawmaker raised a bizarre objection.

The Denver Post reports that Republican Senator Scott Renfroe of Greeley voted against the bill, which which would require 30 minutes of recess time each day, on the grounds that regimented physical activity could lead to "the feminization of our boys."

The bill nonetheless passed its first reading in the Senate with bipartisan support.

Yes, I know Fort Collins is increasingly pretty damned conservative too, and of course there is CO Springs-- but Greeley lately seems to be winning the contest for the most extreme, looney, or racist RWers.

I say, to Arizona, as you become increasingly unfriendly to Hispanics, I welcome as many as want to live in Colorado-- Come on up, register to vote in your own interests (Democratic, of course) and drive out the RW morons and racists.

What a shame.

But kudos to Colorado for doing this! In MO, they passed a law last year mandating a certain amount of time for physical activities at school. So we have to give them recess now.
